The “New Testament” Teaches Torah AND Good Works

Many of my beloved, believing fb friends often post scriptures out of context that seem to say that the Sabbath is irrelevant, that the Torah is irrelevant, and that anyone who says anything hinting at a possible goodness of keeping His Torah is “under the law”, and that they are utterly free from every commandment. To be ‘under’ any law is to be under the weight of its punishment for BREAKING it. The Jews of the Galatian error were indeed breaking Torah, as many of our Jewish people still do, by teaching commands of men in place of God’s commands, as do so many Christians.

Deep down in their hearts, however, Christians should know that they cannot dishonor their parents or commit murder, because the Ten Commandments say so. Yet, sandwiched between those two commandments they say ARE still valid is another commandment, the LONGEST commandment of the Ten:

“REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, TO SANCTIFY IT.” And the command goes on to say that this is the SEVENTH DAY, on which GOD HIMSELF rested, on which YESHUA rested AND worshipped, saying that God made the Sabbath for mankind. Indeed He did, in Genesis 2:1-2. At the beginning of time. For all people descended from Adam.

They cite a few verses completley bereft of BIBLICAL CONTEXT. JUDAIC context in which EVERY BOOK of the Bible was written; and they shore up each other’s dismissal of His loving instructions, all the while saying they love Him. Yeshua said, “IF you LOVE me, you WILL keep my commandments, just as I keep My Father’s commandments!” In Luke 4:16, and in roughly thirty other passages or more, Yeshua is seen worshipping in the Synagogue and the Temple on the Sabbath and the other Holy Days of His Father, “as His custom was!”

Our beloved Christian friends think they are following Yeshua, when in fact they follow Constantine and his popes.

I have done a similar exercise as they, pulling many verses from the “New Testament” to show support for keeping His Torah, Sabbath, and laws, and doing ‘good works’, which these sweet believers decry. These verses below conveniently get overlooked in the ‘argument’.

I do NOT post this to argue, neither will I argue. I post it for the ONE OR TWO FEW who want truly to find THE way of Yeshua. Who KNOW there is something confusing about what the world teaches concerning Messiah.

I will begin with this verse, which is later cited again:

“For we are His creation, created through Yeshua The Messiah ultimately for GOOD WORKS, which God has ordained FROM ANTIQUITY that we SHOULD LIVE IN THEM.” Eph 2:10

The perspective of  ‘antiquity’ in that verse is from Israel in the FIRST century A.D., looking back to mount Sinai in the 20th century B.C. [2,000 years before Messiah when Moshe delivered Israel.]

God ordained the GOOD works of the Torah at Mount Sinai, that EVERY child of Abraham SHOULD WALK IN THEM.

There is a brief explanation of the confusion of the books of Galatians and Romans further down, explaining the truth against the perverted interpretation honest people have been taught, accepting on trust that the translation and interpretation was true. They were and are well-meaning people, many of them; but many are simply using the perversion as a convenience to control and extort God’s people.

Read and consider. Insult me, and you’ll simply be deleted and blocked. If you want an honest conversation, show me that, and you’ll have it.

I hope that one or two grows courage to read all the way through, pray, and consider the UNITY of God and His Son, and both “sides” of HIS ONE BOOK.

“What, then? Do we nullify the Torah through faith? What profanity! On the contrary, we FIRMLY ESTABLISH the Torah!” Rom 3:31

“What shall we then say? Shall we continue in sin [break Torah 1jo3.4] that compassion may abound? What profanity! How shall we who are dead to sin [breaking torah] continue to live in it [sin, breaking torah]?” Rom 6:1-2

“What then? Shall we sin [break Torah] because we are not under the Torah but under compassion? WHAT PROFANITY! Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are, that you obey him, whether it be to SIN, or whether it be of OBEDIENCE to righteousness?…” Rom 6:15-16

“Now, being made free from SIN, you become the servants of righteousness. For the wages of sin [breaking Torah] is DEATH; but the gift of Elohim is life eternal through Our Master Yeshua The Messiah.” Rom 6:18, 23

“What shall we say then? Is the Torah sin? WHAT PROFANITY!  I would not have known the meaning of sin except by means of the Torah; for I would never have known the meaning of covetousness unless the Torah said “you shall not covet.””  Rom 7:7

SIN MISLED ME, SIN KILLED ME using the torah/commandment!

“For SIN [breaking torah], finding occasion BY the commandment, misled me and by it [SIN] killed me. Therefore the Torah is HOLY, and the commandment is HOLY, and just, and GOOD. Has then that which is good [Torah] become death to me? WHAT PROFANITY!  But sin that is exposed as sin, and works death in me for that which is good [torah], will be the more condemned BY MEANS OF the Torah.” Rom 7:11-13

“For we know that the Torah is FROM THE SPIRIT; but I am of the flesh, enslaved to SIN [see previous verse, is the torah sin? WHAT PROFANITY].  Rom 7:14

I thank Elohim for deliverance through Our Master Yeshua The Messiah. Now therefore with my mind I am a servant of the Torah [slaves to righteousness!] of God; but with my flesh I am a servant of the law of sin. Rom 7:25

SIN is the ‘other law’. Stop perverting His Word.

Col 2 does say not to let anyone judge you ‘concerning’ the Sabbath and new moons and feast days… but, it actually is talking about pagans judging believers for keeping them!

Regardless, it says let no MAN judge you in how/why/if you keep the Sabbath.

Nothing in the passage tells us to turn away from the Sabbath. There is not ONE place in ALL of scripture that turns us from the Sabbath. In fact, EVERY “NT” writer continued to keep the Sabbath, just like Yeshua does. Neither is there any scripture that teaches us to turn away from obeying His Torah. Scripture DOES teach us not to trust in ‘our works’ to SAVE us; but, there are JUST as many verses to tell us, in the NT, to do GOOD WORKS. We are not saved by Torah, but the saved keep Torah. Christians keep the Torah, they just only keep a distilled version of it by going to ‘church’ on “sun-day”. Otherwise, they would not even go to any worship on a regular, weekly basis. That idea is a TORAH precept. Why do it? It is the Torah that tells us what sin is. [1 Jo 3:4] Either we follow its guidance in that regard, or we ignore it. Tossing poorly translated scriptures around out of context accomplishes nothing. Yeshua indeed blotted out the written record of our sins, NOT HIS WRITTEN WORD. Does a good person honestly think that when Yeshua hung on the tree that he blotted out FIVE BOOKS of the Bible people yet so eagerly quote?

Think about it. Yeshua Himself said this: “Do NOT expect that I have come to nullify the Torah or the prophets; I have not come to nullify it, but to confirm it. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one yod [the smallest Hebrew letter], nor a stroke [of the pen] shall pass away from the Torah until everything comes to pass. Whoever therefore tries to nullify even ONE of these smallest commandments, and teaches men so, he shall be regarded as small in the Kingdom of Heaven; but anyone who observes and teaches them, he shall be regarded as great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Yet people want to nullify every single command, turning sin loose on God’s children like a free for all. Either keeping the Sabbath is right in God’s eyes, or it’s wrong. No one judges anyone by simply encouraging people to take another look at SCRIPTURE.

It is in fact true that the popes MOVED the Sabbath FROM Saturday TO “sun-day”. “Let us NO LONGER have anything to do with that disgusting people, the Jews; let us HENCE FORTH [from here forward, from now on] worship on the great day of Sol Invictus”. ~ Constantine, founder of pagan Catholicism.

The man was a pagan for the rest of his life. Shortly thereafter, they had to begin to KILL Jewish AND Gentile BELIEVERS in Messiah to stop them from worshipping on the Sabbath of GOD. She [catholicism and other protestant faiths, the harlot of Rev 17-18] indeed has the blood of the holy ones on her hands. Follow the popes if you like, but we have decided to follow the Messiah, who Himself kept the Sabbath every week. [Luke 4:16] As did Paul [1 Cor 11:1-2]

Paul even observed a sacrificial rite to PROVE that he STILL kept Torah, YEARS after having seen Messiah and preaching His Good News:

“Our brother [Paul], see how many thousands there are in Y’hudah [Jews] who are believers, and they are all zealous for the Torah: but they have been informed about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Nations to forsake the Torah of Moshe, stating that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to follow after the customs of the Torah. Now, therefore, they have heard that you have come here. Do, therefore, what we tell you. We have four men who have vowed to purify themselves; take them and go purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; then everyone will know that what has been said against you IS A LIE, and that you yourself UPHOLD the Torah and OBEY it. As for the believers amongst the gentiles, we have written that they should abstain from the things sacrificed to idols, and from fornication, and from what is strangled, and from blood.” Then Paul took the men and on the next day he was purified with them, and he entered into the Temple, informing them how to complete the days of purification until the gift of every one of them was offered.” Acts 21:15-26

Judge Torah keepers if you like; but, we will follow Messiah’s example, who saves us by His precious blood, and compels us to do good works.

Abraham was justified/saved BY FAITH, and THEN he obeyed and kept ALL HIS COMMANDS: ““Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” [Gen 26:5]

“If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did.” John 8:39

“And let us consider one another, to stir up love and good works“; Heb 10:24

“And let our people be taught to do good works” Titus 3:14

“This is a true saying, and these things I want you constantly to affirm, so that those who trust in Elohim may be careful to do good works continually. These things are good and profitable to men.” Titus 3:8

“For His compassion, the salvation of all that belong to Elohim, has been revealed to all men. It [His compassion] teaches us to renounce what is not from God, and worldly lusts, and to live in this world soberly, righteously, and in fear of God, looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God, and Our Savior Yeshua The Messiah, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and might PURIFY us to be His own, a NEW people, ZEALOUS OF GOOD WORKS. These things speak, and exhort and REBUKE with all authority. Let no man despise you.” Titus 2:11-15

“In everything, show yourself an example in all GOOD WORKS, and in your teaching let your word be sound. Choose sound words that are instructive, so that no man can point the finger of scorn at us, and so that he who is against us may be shamed, when he can find nothing evil to say about us.” Titus 2:7-8

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you might be filled with the knowledge of the will of God in all wisdom and in all spiritual understanding, that you might live a righteous life, please God with all GOOD WORKS, and bring forth good fruits and grow in the knowledge of Elohim; and be strengthened with all might, according to the greatness of His Glory, in all patience and longsuffering, so that you may joyfully give thanks to God the Father, who has enlightened us and made us worthy partakers of the inheritance of the Holy Ones [Abraham and the other torah keepers], and has delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us to the kingdom of His Beloved Son, by whom we have obtained redemption and the forgiveness of sins.” Col 1:9-14

“In all my prayers for you, I make supplication with joy, for your fellowship in the Good News from the very first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun the GOOD WORKS among you, the same will continue it until the day of Our Master Yeshua the Messiah.” Phil 1:4-6

“For we are His creation, created through Yeshua The Messiah ultimately for GOOD WORKS, which God has ordained FROM ANTIQUITY that we SHOULD LIVE IN THEM.” Eph 2:10

“Let us not be weary in good works; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Gal 6:9

“But let every man examine his own WORK, and then may he glory within himself, alone, and not among others.” Gal 6:4

“Because of the hardness and impenitence of your heart you are laying up for yourself a treasure of wrath for the day of wrath and the revelation of the righteous judgment of Elohim, who will render to every man according to his deeds: to those who continue patiently in good works, seeking glory and honor and immortality, He will give Eternal Life; but to those who are stubborn and do not obey the truth, but obey iniquity, He will render indignation and wrath.  He will render suffering and affliction for every man who does evil, for the Yehudim first, and also for the Arame’ans; but glory, honor and shalom for everyone who does good, to the Yehudim first, and also to the Arame’ans.  For there is no respect of persons with God.  For those who have sinned outside of Torah shall also perish outside of Torah; and those who have sinned in the Torah shall be judged by the Torah, for it is not the hearers of the Torah who are righteous before Elohim, but it is the DOERS of the Torah who shall be justified.” Rom 3:5-13

“But consecrate  יהוה  Messiah in your hearts; and be ready to give an answer in meekness and reverence to everyone who seeks from you a word concerning the hope of your absolute trust, having a good conscience, so that they who speak evil of you as of evildoers may be ashamed as men who belittle your good works in Messiah. For it is better, if it is the will of God, that you suffer for good deeds, rather than for evil doing.” 1 Pet 3:15-17

“For so also in the past did the consecrated women who trusted in  Elohim  adorn their lives and were submissive to their own husbands, even as Sarah was submissive to Avraham, and called him ‘My Adon’; her daughters you are by reason of good works, and so long as you are not confused by any kind of false value.” 1 Peter 3:5-6

“For such is the will of Elohim, that by your good works you may silence the mouths of foolish men who know not Elohim.” 1 Peter 2:15

“My beloved ones, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from carnal desires, which war against the soul; and let your conduct be good before all men, so that those who speak evil words against you may see your good works and glorify God at the day of trial.” 1 Peter 2:11-12

“Do not wonder at this; for the time is coming when all those who are in their graves will hear His voice,  and they will come out; those who have done good works to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil works to the resurrection of judgment.” John 5:28-29

“So let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and glorify Your Father in Heaven.” ~Yeshua Matt 5:16

The Galatians issue was NOT that of turning away from the Sabbath or God’s other holy days. It was about FALSE BRETHREN telling gentiles they must be circumcised TO BE SAVED. Circumcision was NEVER about salvation. In the 1st century, the Pharisees were divided into two houses: Hillel and Shammai. Hillel believed gentiles SHOULD come to faith and be saved WITHOUT circumcision. Paul was taught by Gamaliel, the grandson of Hillel. Shammai believed gentiles must FULLY CONVERT to BE a Jew, IN ORDER TO BE SAVED. THAT was the issue. ALL GENTILES were worshipping God in the JEWISH SYNAGOGUES, along with saved AND unsaved Jews of BOTH houses. Some of Shammai pretended to be Messianic, and enforced MANMADE doctrine by using scare tactics, telling gentiles they would not see heaven if they were not circumcised. Paul put this to bed with his letter, and so did the first council of the congregation in Acts 15. And the Jewish believers put about SIX CHAPTERS of the TORAH on the GENTILES as a MINUMUM so they could stay in fellowship. This is how they introduced those laws Gentiles SHOULD obey: “For it is the will of The Holy Spirit and of us [Jewish Leaders] to lay upon you no ADDITIONAL BURDEN [there IS a burden] than these necessary things: that you abstain from sacrifices offered to idols [Lev and Deut, several chapters], and from blood [Lev 17], and from creatures strangled [Lev 11, Deut 14], and from fornication [Lev 18-19]; when you keep yourselves from these things, you will do well. Stand steadfast in Our Master.” [Acts 15:28-29] And James had just previously implicated that the Gentiles will continue to learn the Torah ON THE SABBATH: [Acts 15:21] “For Moshe, since early generations, has those who declare him in the Synagogues in every city who read him on every Sabbath Day.” THAT is where these Gentiles were worshipping Yeshua!

Most people do not understand Galatians and Romans; neither did they back then:

“And consider that the longsuffering of Our Master is for Salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his letters he speaks concerning these matters, in which there are certain things so hard to be understood that those who are ignorant and unstable twist their meaning, as they do also the OTHER scriptures [Torah!] to their own DESTRUCTION. You therefore, my beloved, seeing that you know these things beforehand, BEWARE, lest you follow the error of those WITHOUT TORAH, and fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in compassion and in the knowledge of Our Master and Savior, Yeshua the Messiah, and of God the Father. To Him be glory both now and forever, and through all eternity. Amein.” 2 Peter 3:15-19

Again, Yeshua HIMSELF said that He did NOT come to nullify the Torah, but to confirm it [fulfill is not a bad xlation, but so misunderstood; He is STILL confirming/fulfilling His Torah IN US]:

“Do not expect that I have come to nullify the Torah or the prophets; I have not come to nullify it, but to confirm it. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one yod, nor a stroke [of the pen] shall pass away from the Torah until everything comes to pass. Whoever therefore tries to nullify even ONE of these smallest commandments, and teaches men so, he shall be regarded as small in the Kingdom of Heaven; but anyone [JEW OR GENTILE] who OBSERVES AND TEACHES them [commandments of the Torah], he shall be regarded as great in the Kingdom of Heaven.” ~ Yeshua, Matt 5:17-19

  1. how precious are those who spread the good news! This is the most beautiful, comprehensive declaration of why we should all walk in the biblical way… denying the pull of man’s traditions. Let all who are blessed to read this, fervently pray to receive this GOOD NEWS and turn back to the walk of our anointed Messiah. It is He alone we should follow. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And to all you declared… AMEIN. Blessings, Meaux
