webkin1091THAT’S HIPPO CHRISSY!

This week is full of her!

Comey, a man who wanted to take down Trump over impropriety, even crime, is found, not surprisingly, to have committed impropriety along with his unconfessed crimes.  The Democratic party, many of its members who identify as ‘christians’, wrote a declaration basically saying that faith would not be permitted in the party, least wise any faith that opposes sins they’ve shrouded in flowery, politically correct language.   American leftists keep telling us communist socialism is the cure for making everyone equal, and China oppressed many of its citizens who cried foul this week, and our leftists sit by in utter silence.  So much for freedom and equality.

To ‘say one thing and do another’ is hypocrisy.  I witnessed it ever so recently on a very personal level, and had to just walk away from it, knowing that confronting it would be futile.  The thing about hypocrisy is that the hypocrite is blind to it.  The hypocrite is utterly convinced that both his positions are true, even when the evidence against one of the positions is laid bare with absolutes.  Even in the face of empirical data, the hypocrite persists in his self-deceit.

Each of these things made me wonder about the obstinance of the human heart.  Many believers refuse to listen to the rebuke of the Ru’akh HaKodesh that comes by the declaration of His Word. Forsaking His Shabbat is the prime example of masses of humans doing that very thing.  In that, most believers do it often, on a grand scale.  But, even among some who claim to follow Him, and may even strive to do so, they yet do not yield to His reproof.  Some even teach that G-d does not ‘convict’ us or reprove us for our sins, even though Yeshua said that this is exactly why He would send the Ru’akh to us!  But, even many of those who say they understand this tend to refuse to look at themselves and see where they are wrong; they refuse even the possibility of error on their part.  No doubt, many of those involved in all of the above profess to be believers in the Messiah on some level.  Even in the personal episode I witnessed.  Many call this narcissism.  I call it sin, and it is the blasphemy for which Yeshua said there is no remedy.

I pondered that, and asked my self how we got here, where we are so incapable of humbling ourselves.  For the ones who do not claim Messiah at all, I give them a pass.  They do not follow Him, and cannot move in His humble spirit.  But, to those who CLAIM, on any level, a relationship with G-d through His Son, no pass can be offered.  How did we get to the point where, in a country that yet still claims a majority to believe in Him on some level, is full of people who cannot or will not humble themselves, put aside their pride, and admit their disingenuous, duplicitous behavior?

I think it comes down to a point I was trying to make last night in our study, that we are not taught ‘how’ to ‘live’ in Him.  We ‘say’ we know how to do so; we want to think that we do, by praying, by ‘going to church,’ or attending a Sabbath, by doing kind deeds; but, when it comes to admitting our own offenses against others, we do not see the need for it; we see instead a need to self-protect, to deflect, in order to preserve the ‘upper hand’ in a situation.  That ‘upper hand’ might be simply to keep oneself out of jail [Comey], or to keep one’s agenda moving forward [Commie, Demmy, Lefty] or to keep control over another soul.  To remain superior in one’s own mind.

Whatever reason, I am so glad Messiah sees through it.  We are coming up on the season of Teshuvah, which gives us an opportunity to ‘humble’ ourselves.  Self-investigation with an honest lamp is difficult and painful, when it means we need to approach another human, to whom, for whatever reason, we did not want to admit a wrong/offense in the first place.  In twelve years of participating in this season with a congregation, never has there been one person come to me about serious offenses done to me.  Not one time.  A few have come to me about things they thought I was offended by, but about which I had no real recollection, and still don’t.  I genuinely appreciate their concern, too, and was happy to set their minds at ease, but there was no need for it on my part.  And, I don’t look for it, either… I strive truly to turn inward, and be the one who goes to those I’ve hurt or offended, if I have not already sincerely done so.  My first year of taking this seriously meant going back years in my past and reaching out to people I had not seen in many years.  I went all the way back to a fourth grade offense one year!  An infraction against a classmate I always felt guilty over, but never had the courage to deal with back then; he didn’t even remember the episode, but reminding him of it and apologizing did a lot for ME.  Most of all, it humbled me further.  And that is why I try to take it seriously each year.  Mind you, I try to address situations as they happen, and constantly ‘examine myself’ to ‘see whether [ I am ] of the faith,’ and leave my gift at the altar and go to my brother, and not let the sun go down on my anger.  But, taking thirty days and asking Abba to shine His lamp into the darker reaches of my humanity takes courage, and it gets the pink hippo out of the room.  She’ll be the cause of the downfall of many, and this week she’s been all in the news…

Big Cuz Ike Hair

Imagine!  If only they’d listened to Jeremiah!

I do NOT ‘work’ for my salvation!

I am NOT ‘under’ the law.

I make a lot of posts, which I’m convinced most people don’t read anyway….

But, more do than there is ‘evidence’ for, and more than I thought; people who I thought would not read my posts tell me in person they’re reading them.

But, I also am certain there are those who COMPLETELY misunderstand my walk.

For a day or two now, I’ve had this itch, so I’m scratching it.  I’m going to attempt a summary to explain again my walk of faith.

Yeshua said, “If you love me, you will keep my Mitzvot.”

The Torah is His.  It contains more than just the mitzvot [commandments].  But, He expects us to keep those.  It contains instructions, statutes, principles, and prophecies, along with the mitzvot.  Mat 5:17-19 is a passage discussing those ‘mitzvot’ Yeshua called “His”.  “My Mitzvot” is NOT a collection of things He said while on earth, apart from Torah, and it is NOT a set of two ‘new’ commands.  It is His Torah.

ALL TRUE BELIEVERS in the Messiah ARE Torah keepers!

They just do not YET keep ALL of the mitzvot.  [They eventually will, either in this life, to escape the great tribulation, or in the millennium, after having been disciplined].

They DO:

Trust in  יהוה , even though they may not know His Name.

They do not worship idols.

They do not take His Name in vain [mostly because they don’t know it].

They honor their parents.

They do not commit adultery, murder, or theft, they do not lie about their neighbors, they do not covet.

The Shabbat is what’s missing from most believers’ lives.  And all the other “shabbats”, or days on which HE said we should assemble.

The Sabbath [and all the subsequent appointments of Lev 23] is the ‘sign’ of the faithful believers during the ‘tribulation,’ as are the rest of the Mitzvot.  [Shemot 31:17, Ez 20:12, Rev]  Those two Nevi’im [prophets] will be turning Jews AND Gentile believers to obedience to the Torah as Messiah taught it, and all of His followers on earth will “keep the mitzvot AND have the testimony of Yeshua”, which is what the ‘white clothing’ of righteousness represents, as we are told in the Hitgalut [revelation].

But, many true believers TODAY fail to keep His appointed times, keeping instead those of men, who wrest authority from G-d and His Son.  That truly is the ONLY difference between us [Messianic Peshitta Jews and Gentiles] and most other TRUE believers!

We, as humans, refuse to admit that our parents/forebears might have been wrong about some things.  We can be loyal to a fault.  Messianic Peshitta believers have simply been willing to look at doctrines we were taught, either directly or through ‘tradition’, and consider whether we ‘inherited lies,’ as the Navi Dani’el said of his generation.  [9:4-19]  He realized ‘why’ they were in Bavel.  And he repented on behalf of his whole nation.  And Abba restored Yisra’el to the land shortly thereafter.

I’m praying for the whole Body of Messiah.  To realize the lies we have inherited.  This does NOT ‘condemn’ everyone who does not yet ‘see’ why we follow the mitzvot, any more than Dani’el’s prayer condemned the Jews in Bavel in his day.  It is merely an intercession on behalf of all who trust in Messiah, but are yet not ‘awake’ to His ways.  [Matti 25]

It is not condemnation.  It is a realization that what most of us ‘do’ does NOT match what HE SAYS, nor what HE DID.  [That is what makes “WWJD” so funny to us]  If we LOVE HIM, we will correct that.  It is that simple.  He is calling His Bride, those who truly LOVE Him, to WAKE UP.  To LIVE the tzedaka that is inside them, outwardly, which is simple obedience to HIS WORD.  NOTHING in His Word instructs a person to forsake His Sabbath.  Find it in His Word, and I’ll go to church with you tomorrow.

I keep the mitzvot BECAUSE I LOVE HIM.

It is the outward expression of what HE put in me when He saved me 42 years ago: HIS ‘tzedaka’, [righteousness].  It is a manifestation of my salvation, a manifestation that is according to His Word, and not the whims of man, nor the wishes of the adversary and his ‘winds’ of doctrine.

The Torah DEFINES the ‘righteousness’ of G-d. It is perfectly expressed in the life of Yeshua, and yes, Yeshua put His perfect ‘righteousness’/obedience in me, and He NO LONGER looks at my sin.  But, He also gave me His Ru’akh, which is His Power NOT TO SIN.  Sin is ‘breaking Torah’ [1 Jo 3:4].  My doing Shabbat and the seven other appointed times, and the traditions of Moshe that help me keep the communal mitzvot, is RIGHT AND TRUE.  And it is what ALL believers in the scriptures did, exclusively, in regard to religious practice. And should be done by EVERYONE who confesses Him.  One day, it will!  We will ALL keep His Sabbath and appointed times when Messiah rules on earth for 1,000 years [Is 66:23, Zech 14:16-19] … how we treat them now helps determine our place in that time! [resurrected and ruling with Him, or mortal, and still subject to sin and possible separation from G-d for eternity].

This may make the reader mad.  If it did, I rejoice!

Why?!  Because Yeshua said this on His last night, before He was executed.

“And when it is come [The Ru’akh HaKodesh, the “consecrated breath/spiritual power of G-d”], it will rebuke the world concerning khata [sin], concerning tzedaka [righteous deeds defined in Torah, and obedience to them], and concerning mishpat [judgment];  concerning khata, because they do not believe in me; concerning tzedaka, because I go to Avi and you [those who trust] will not see me again; concerning mishpat, because the leader of this world has been judged.”

“Sin” is breaking Torah.  “Being outside/apart from Torah”.  [1 Jo 3:4 in most good, greek-sourced bibles]

“Righteousness” is the ‘deeds/works’ of the Torah, the right way to do, having no infractions of Torah on your record.

Yeshua went away, and so our ‘example’ has to be learned from His Word: HOW YESHUA LIVED AND TAUGHT THE TORAH.  HE taught us how to read and understand Torah.  HE told us He would, in Matti 5:17-19, and then He did in Matti 5:20-7:27!  And the Ru’akh teaches the SAME THING.  He was a Torah-observant, synagogue-attending, kosher meat-eating Jew.  I follow Him, and no other.

We keep the Torah because He told us to, and taught us HOW to do so.

Those twelve Jews He taught NEVER ONCE violated a Shabbat.  The book of Acts proves it.  They remained Jews, and remained Torah Keepers the REST of their lives!  Paul defended Himself in courts of law, saying he NEVER VIOLATED the Torah NOR the customs of Moshe!  He did violate Rabbinic teachings, but NOT a BIBLICAL, Yeshua-led LIFE.

My salvation is based on TRUST ALONE in the blood that Messiah Yeshua shed for me and in His resurrection, BODILY, from the dead.  My obedience to His Word is BECAUSE He so compassionately LOVED us, such as to die for us, BEFORE we even THOUGHT to know He has a righteous Torah for us to live.  His Torah ‘measures’ how we reflect His righteousness to this world, and as such measures our REWARD in His Kingdom.  For those who do NOT trust and obey, it measures their punishment.

All we have done in beginning to keep the mitzvot concerning His appointed times, and a very few other mitzvot that most believers either ignore or simply do not know they exist, is to increase the MEASURE of our obedience TO HIM.  And those of us who truly do this in LOVE do NOT condemn those who have not done so yet!  But, we do try to share the joy of it!  There will come a time when it cannot be shared!  [Matt 25]  But, the funny thing is that many who have not as yet honed their obedience to Torah condemn US!  And damn us to hell!  THAT is the ‘blasphemy’ of taking His Name in vain [Lev 24:11].  You take on His Name [in any form], and by it presume to condemn a person in His Name?  That is sitting in the seat of judgment, which belongs to Yeshua alone!  THAT is Sheker HaMashi’akh…  YOU CANNOT say that those who trust in Yeshua AND keep the Sabbath are going to hell.  You do not even listen when we tell you we TRUST IN HIS BLOOD and RESURRECTION alone for Salvation!  YOU tread on FAR more dangerous ground than we!

The simple truth is, I trust in Yeshua. I CHOOSE to obey HIM, by obeying His Word.

“But whoever keeps His D’var [WORD], in Him truly is the love of Elohim perfected.”  [1 Jo 2:5]

“He who says “I know Him” and does not keep His mitzvot [commandments] is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” [previous verse]

His D’var and His Mitzvot are THE SAME THING!  When Yokhanan wrote those words, there was only ONE side of the “Bible” that people called His Word.  They read the Torah!  And kept it.

The Precipice of Decision

14068249_10205298194373550_4375249943127614584_n

Saying ‘the prayers,’ as they did in Acts 2:42, wearing the me’il/abaya/tallit with tzit-tziyot, blessing bread before we eat AND giving thanks AFTER we eat, attending a worship service in the Synagogue on Shabbat [Public place of ASSEMBLY on Saturday], wearing a head-cover in respect for Elohim, opening and closing the Sabbath with a ceremony, all of these are ‘customs’ that go along with the ‘instructions,’ and they unify believers in the Jewish Messiah, who did all of these!

Do not cast off Jewish customs! Your King is a Jew. He lived His life as an obedient Jew, to both the Torah AND the customs, as long as they did not contravene the Torah [go against].    1 John 2:6

At the same time, DO NOT go too far the other way!

“But thank Elohim that you, who were ONCE the servants of sin [breaking Torah, 1 Jo 3:4], now OBEY from the heart the form of TORAH which has been delivered to you [by the Shlikhim/apostles]. Now, being made free from sin [breaking Torah], you become the servants of tzedaka [as defined in Torah].”

Jews back then, before Messiah arrived, were teaching THEIR OWN form of Torah, just like they do today.

Tzefan-Yah told that generation of Rabbis:

“You received the Torah by the disposition of Messengers, and have not kept it!” [Acts 7:53]

The ‘form’ or ‘prescription’ of Torah that was delivered to believers was YESHUA’s teaching of it: in TRUTH, not adding man’s commands to it, or taking the commands of Elohim away from it, or twisting HIS to make new ones. [2 Pet 3:14-18] ALL MEN DO THIS, unless they follow Rabbi Yeshua!

Reprise

An old fb post that has been requested…

Shalom,
I don’t know yet if I will post this, but I have been fighting the urge to write something of this nature for quite some time, and have finally given in at least to write it. It is currently July 30. If the post date is later than that, that’s how long it took me to write it, and to pray and decide to post it or not to post it.

Twenty-six years ago, I began to take my faith seriously. I was a submarine sailor, and I was confused about many of life’s issues, such as career, money, family, marriage, friendships, and righteousness. I was not a happy young man. My grandmother had given me a bible when I was fourteen years old, and I always took it to sea with me; it rested in a cubbyhole at the head of my bunk for two and a half patrols, and I never read it. On my third patrol, my circumstances drove me to read it. I had been seeing a girl named Noelle, and she had hurt me pretty badly after my second patrol, just before the third one started. I had a close friend on the boat who clammed up at sea. My family was not writing letters nor using “family-grams” to stay in touch with me. The crew was miserable due to a sour command that seemed to stoke bad morale deliberately. But, most importantly, I was not walking with my G-d. This ‘perfect storm’ of chaos in my mind drove me to the point where I finally reached in and picked up my Bible. Before I opened it, I prayed, “Father, I want to know what Jesus would say to me if He were standing here,” and I could practically ‘see’ the Messiah standing at the side of my top bunk as I prayed that prayer. I meant business.

[I’ll be citing the Aramaic-sourced ‘new testament’ text, as I trust it better than the greek-sourced texts I used to read. Given where Messiah has led me, and what was revealed to me that day some 26 years ago, I feel it necessary to stay true to the root of the scriptures, even in relating what happened that day. Let me say that I ALWAYS viewed Yeshua as Jewish, even as a child. And on this day I ‘saw’ Him that way.]

I opened the book to Matthew 5 and began to read.

“When Yeshua saw the multitudes, he ascended a mountain; when He sat down, his talmidim drew near to Him, and he opened His mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for Tzedaka, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for mercy shall be upon them. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see Elohim. Blessed are those who make shalom, for they shall be called the children of Elohim. Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of Tzedaka, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they treat you with reviling, and persecute you, and say concerning you every evil word, for my sake, in falsity. Then be glad and exult, for your reward is great in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.”

Even though it has been so long ago, I still remember very vividly and deep within me that these words, though I had heard them all my life, were brand new to me that day. I ‘saw’ that Yeshua was not describing several different groups of people, as I had for some reason always understood this passage, but that He was describing ONE PERSON: HIS TALMID [follower/student]. Each of these attributes is a facet of the total character of each person who follows Messiah, refracting slightly different strata of the same light, like facets on a diamond. Combined, this is the ‘goal’ of a believer, since Yeshua Himself embodied all these qualities. Immediately, I knew that I did not have any of these attributes. I was hording money, I was callous, proud, unclean, merciless, impure, violent, and so far from anyone knowing that I had confessed “Jesus” years before, that I had not experienced persecution for the sake of righteousness since the fourth grade. My heart was broken.

I read further. Yeshua explained that we are to light our lamp and set it on a table for everyone to see. Clearly my life was shrouded in darkness, as I would only ‘talk to the LORD’ in private, when I was in need. Then, I read three more verses:

“Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets; I came not to abolish, but to expound. For, truly I say unto you, that until Heaven and earth shall pass away, not one yod nor one point shall pass from the Torah until all is done. Everyone, therefore, who shall set loose any one from the least of the commandments, and shall so teach the children of men, he shall be called least in the kingdom of Heaven. But, everyone who shall DO and TEACH them, that one shall be called GREAT in the kingdom of Heaven.”

These verses had a profound effect on me that day, even though I did not fully understand their impact then. But, what I did do was determine that I would learn. During that third patrol, I read the whole “Brit Khadasha” [Matthew to Revelation] twice.

Yeshua went on and taught the Torah in Matthew 5-7 and I continued reading that day. He was teaching about murder and offerings in the House of G-d, about adultery and its relationship to lust, about divorce and what Torah meant in prescribing divorce, about oaths of the Torah, and how to fulfill them, about how to love our neighbor according to Torah, about tzedaka [righteousness, ie righteous deeds of Torah], about proper attitudes in prayer in the House of G-d, about forgiveness and helping us to understand the depth of it, about fasting, about trusting Elohim, about judgment and mercy, and that only those who DO these things the way HE taught them would be accepted into the Kingdom of Elohim at the judgment. I determined in my heart to learn how to do these things, His way. I knew then that I was so far off the mark, even though I believed. I knew that I ‘said’ I was a ‘christian’, but that the Messiah’s ‘anointing’ [the eventual root word of ‘christian’] was not evident in my life very much at all. He was anointed according to Torah. He did what His Father instructed. He lived out the intent of Torah in His life here on earth.

It has been a long road. I first went back into the Baptist churches, because that’s where I had been raised. I quickly saw that they were not really interested in the things of Messiah, but only in getting other people to ‘join the church’, and after that, maybe they’d try to get them to be “nice”. They did seem to be interested in bringing people to Messiah, but not in teaching them HOW He expects them to live, but how THEY expected them to live. They lopped off the commandments, and misrepresented the ‘new testament’ scriptures with lofty ‘hermeneutics’. It frustrated me. The text was plain. Why could they not just read it and ‘hear’ what it said?

I investigated all major protestant faiths, visiting churches of most of the major denominations, but I found that they were not teaching the ways of Messiah in any great measure either, but most of them were perpetuating the idea that grace means one does not have to obey: sins are forgiven, and the same behaviors forever abided. Perhaps each person prayed, “forgive me of my sins” each night, but there was no effort to find out what those sins were, and no effort to change them. Since I was devouring the Psalms daily, phrases like “search me O G-d, and see if there is any wicked way in me”, and “show me my hidden faults”, showed me that the attitude of prayer in scripture did not match the attitude being taught. I believed in grace still, whole heartedly, but I learned that the grace of G-d compels me to obey: “It is the compassion of Elohim that leads us to t’shuva [repentance, returning to Torah].” Rom 2:4

Most of you know that I am now Messianic, if you have watched my facebook page at all. A mere year and a half after what I described above, I ‘found’ myself in a Messianic Jewish Synagogue in Jacksonville, Florida. I was moved to tears that very first visit. The Shabbat started, I was wearing a kippah for the first time in my life, feeling a bit odd doing so, but I was moved by the sanctity in the room, by the reverence and the joy. I soon got lost in the Torah with the ‘Rabbi’, who was showing the Messiah from the book of Genesis. I distinctly remember telling myself that day, “If I EVER practice “religion” with men again, it will be in this way, because THIS is the WAY of Messiah.” I had no idea where that thought would lead me twenty-four years later. I also had no idea I had Jewish ancestry on both sides of my family, until about ten years later. Some say that is why being in a synagogue moves me so; I don’t know. I believe it to be His Breath in me that moves me when I hear His Word rightly expounded.

I said all of that to say this: Since that time, that day on the submarine twenty-six years ago, I have been compelled to try to lead people to the faith of Messiah. I have had some great successes, and sadly some great failures. I have failed Messiah in far too many ways. But, for some reason, He continues to lift me up, dust me off, and push me back into the mix. He practically has had to force me in past times to continue to try to bring people to Him and His Word, His Torah, [Is 2:3], because there simply is not a great desire on people’s parts to leave their sins behind, and there is such a great misunderstanding among christians about the beauty of Torah. One day I actually told Him that I would NOT talk about Him and the Torah again. I remember saying, “I’m done. Find someone else.” That day was about nine years ago. On that VERY DAY, mere moments later, a Catholic man came up to me and started asking me questions about the Bible again [not the first time that’s happened], out of the blue. I smiled inside and obliged.

Today, and very often over these past few months, I begged Abba to allow me the privilege of speaking about Messiah Yeshua and His Torah to anyone, even though I do it before a congregation every week on Shabbat. I plead with Him to give me a chance to proclaim the death of Messiah, the Son of G-d. Hence this epic post. The nature of my new job has not allowed for that, as I have been by myself most of the time during the day. On my last job, I had many opportunities to tell people that G-d’s Son had been sent, that He had opened the Way to the forgiveness of sin, to freedom from the guilt of our many trespasses, and that He has enabled us to gain eternal life through faithfulness to His Word.

What is my motivation? Many might think that I just want to make a name for myself, feel good about myself, promote some commodity or product from which I can profit, or any such other manmade, selfish motivation. That is not it at all. So: Why? Why do I want to shout from the rooftops that Messiah Yeshua, the Jewish Savior, has died for the transgressions of the world and called all who would trust in His Resurrection BACK to the Tzedaka of Torah?

TRUTH MATTERS

And If people are not ‘ready’ for Messiah’s return, they perish.

So, allow me to solicit your thoughts on certain matters, if I may. I am asking those of you who know you love the Messiah to consider that His Father was Elohim, the Almighty G-d. That Almighty G-d created the Sabbath for all mankind, to which Yeshua attested:

“The Sabbath was made for MANKIND, and not mankind for the Sabbath”.

Mark 2:27

Yeshua is referring to Genesis 2, here, where G-d blessed the SEVENTH DAY. He did not bless the first day. He created the Sabbath as His last act of creating. We pray a prayer, “though made last…” in our congregation. The Sabbath was made…for all of us.

My question, then, is an honest question offered in love: Who changed the Sabbath Day?

Did G-d? Did the Messiah change it, after declaring that it was made for all mankind? Do you understand that the word Sabbath means “Seventh Day”? It is a day of rest, but it is the SEVENTH DAY, and it was instated at the creation, NOT for the Jews only! But for all mankind.

So, WHO changed it? I beg you to consider this. And I ask you to read further and allow me to show you who changed it. Not only so, but I would like you also to consider, with all my heart, who changed the other Holy Days of G-d, which the Messiah Yeshua also observed? Passover, Matzot, Reysheet Omer, Shavuot, all of which detail the first coming of Messiah and his death, burial and resurrection, as shadows. Also Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, which teach us very clearly of the details of His return. [Colossians 2:17]

Who changed these feasts to Easter, Halloween, and Christmas? Who changed the Sabbath to “Sun-day”.

I will tell you: the Spirit of the Lying Messiah. You may call it “Antichrist”.

This is the spirit that will one day possess an individual who will rule the world, very soon. But, this ‘spirit’ has been in the world for millennia. It does not go after the lost, but after believers, to deceive them. It was in the world in the first century, and already lying to ‘christians’ then, those who confessed that they believed in Yeshua as the Messiah. Yokhanan [John] had to remind them that this spirit was already around, as a warning of great danger:

“My little children, it is the last days; and as you have heard that the Lying Messiah will come, even NOW there are many lying messiahs, and from this we know that it is the last days”.
I John 2:18

“The Ruakh of Elohim [Spirit of G-d] is known by this: every spirit that declares that Yeshua the Messiah is come in the flesh is from Elohim. And every spirit which does not declare that Yeshua the Messiah is come in the flesh is not from Elohim. This is the spirit of the Lying Messiah, which you have heard that it should come into the world, and even now is already in the world.”
I John 4:2-3

This is a clear warning that there is a presence in the world that means to deceive the people of Messiah. Shaul [Paul] wrote of it too:

“Now the Ruakh clearly says that in the last days some shall DEPART from the faith, giving ear to seducing spirits, and doctrines of demons.”

1 Tim 4:1

Both Yokhanan and Shaul declare that the believers had heard of and that the Ruakh had spoken of this “lying Messiah”. Many think that the “Holy Spirit” whispered in their ears and told them this, but do not realize that the Ruakh wrote the Tanak [the Torah, Prophets, and Poets], and that is how they had ‘heard’ of the lying Messiah:

“He shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.”

Gen 49:17

“In that day יהוה with His sore and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the slant serpent, and Leviathan the tortuous serpent; and He will slay the dragon that is in the sea.”
Isaiah 27:1

“He shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the set apart ones, and HE SHALL THINK TO CHANGE THE APPOINTED TIMES [FEASTS] AND THE TORAH.”
Daniel 7:25

“Appointed Times” are specific: Leviticus 23:2, “These are the Appointed Times of יהוה.” The first one is the Sabbath, and the other seven are listed above in the same order they are listed in Leviticus.

So, it is the spirit of the Lying Messiah, that has been in the world for atleast 2000 years, [really, it was in the garden of Eden too, however, but Yokhanan’s letter was written before 90AD, so it has been atleast that long], that would CHANGE THE FEASTS and the TORAH.

But, when did this happen? When did the christian world CHANGE? Most of you may think that it was very, very early in the cycle of ‘christian’ observance. It was not. True, there were second century ‘confessors’, a handful, who observed the ‘Sunday Sabbath’ as the “Lords Day”, but were they right to do so? Does that mean that no ‘christians’ were still keeping the Sabbath and the Passover? No. Look at history carefully. More importantly, where is it written that Almighty G-d gave authority to men to CHANGE HIS FEASTS and to IGNORE SCRIPTURE? It is not, but it is written that the “Antichrist”, the “Anti-Messiah”, the Lying Messiah, the “Son of Perdition”, would do so. And, it is written that the ‘spirit’ that would possess him was already in the world in the first century. So, WHEN, I ask you lovingly, did your forefathers STOP observing the Sabbath?

Check the book of Acts, and you will see that ALL believers, Jewish and Gentile, worshipped Elohim on the Sabbath, and that it was a LIE that was spread that they changed the Torah for Jews and for Gentiles.

It happened ‘officially’ starting in 312AD.

“On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits; because it often happens that another day is not so suitable for grain-sowing or vine-planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.”

This is Constantine. It is after he called the Pagan sign “Sol Invictus” the “Sign of the Cross”, and went to war in the name of ‘christ’. It was at the Battle of the Milvian bridge in 308 where he ‘claimed’ to be ‘christian’, and shortly thereafter declared HIS empire to be a ‘christian’ Empire. And four years later, he made it LAW that “The Venerable Day of the Sun” would be the day of rest. He changed the ‘law’.

So, indeed, the first thing he did was change the Appointed Times. But, it did not end there. He further declared the Passover of the Jews to be “disgusting”. Even though MOST of his ‘empire’ who believed in the Messiah actually KEPT THE PASSOVER WITH THE JEWS! He was a rabid anti-Semite, and it did not take long for it to manifest, and to officially change the other “Appointed Times”.

“It was, in the first place, declared improper to follow the custom of the Jews in the celebration of this holy festival [Pesakh/Passover], because, their hands having been stained with crime, the minds of these wretched men are necessarily blinded. … Let us, then, have nothing in common with the Jews, who are our adversaries. … Let us … studiously avoiding all contact with that evil way. … For how can they entertain right views on any point who, after having compassed the death of the Lord, being out of their minds, are guided not by sound reason, but by an unrestrained passion, wherever their innate madness carries them. … lest your pure minds should appear to share in the customs of a people so utterly depraved. … Therefore, this irregularity must be corrected, in order that we may no more have any thing in common with those parricides and the murderers of our Lord. … no single point in common with the perjury of the Jews.” [Ecclesiastical History by Theodoret, Book 1, Chapter 9, concerning the matters transacted at the Council, addressed to those overseers who were not present]

Now, if you’re an anti-Semite, this rings true for you. But, if you recognize that he is saying that things must CHANGE, you see that many in the empire were STILL keeping the Passover, TOGETHER WITH JEWS. Check the History, the believers in Messiah got along with the wider Jewish community for a long, long time, even though some gentiles were already trying to break away from the Jewish community. Constantine, however, and his followers, made it LAW! He FORCED division between Jews and “Messianic” believers.

If you read history further, you find that another law had to be written a mere 80 some odd years later, to FORCE people to QUIT observing the Sabbath and the Passover, and the other feasts, with Jews, on PAIN OF DEATH. Can you really justify a DEATH PENALTY sentence for KEEPING THE SABBATH of the JEWS? If you can, you are of the spirit of the Lying Messiah.

The overseers who were not present were the Jewish Overseers of the congregations around the empire, and the Gentile overseers who would NOT go to the council of Nicea, because Constantine would not permit the Jewish Overseers to go! Out of some 2500 overseers around the empire, only around 250 actually went. So, a TEN PERCENT showing of overseers decided the fate of the ‘christian empire’; and that 10 percent began KILLING anyone who disagreed with them on these two matters, and on one more: Who Messiah is.

The Council of Nicea DENIED that Yeshua is come in the FLESH!

They delared this: “He is said to be “one in being with The Father”. Eusebius of Caesarea attributed the term homoousios, or “consubstantial, i.e., “of the same substance” (of the Father), to Constantine, who, on this particular point, may have chosen to exercise his authority. The significance of this clause, however, is extremely ambiguous, and it would be hotly contested for centuries, before the final ‘Trinitarian formula’ was accepted. It, too, was forced on the wider ‘christian empire’ by the DEATH PENALTY.

“Homoousios” is the issue. “One SUBSTANCE”.

This DENIES that Yeshua is FLESH AND BONE!

“Behold, my hands and feet, that it is I myself: HANDLE ME, and SEE, for a SPIRIT DOES NOT HAVE FLESH and BONES, as you see me have.” Luke 24:39

For Constantine to declare that “jesus” is the same SUBSTANCE with the father is to make him NOT A HUMAN, it denies Him of His BODY, since the scriptures say that the Father, Elohim, is SPIRIT! Yeshua said so HIMSELF!

“Elohim is RUAKH [Spirit], and they that worship HIM must do so in spirit, and in TRUTH”.
John 4:24

THIS IS THE “SPIRIT OF THE LYING MESSIAH”, that Yokhanan warned us about!

THIS IS THE SPRIIT OF THE LYING MESSIAH, which you have heard that it should come into the world, and even now is already in the world.”

I John 4:2-3

Please pray, read the scriptures, and see if this is not true! OUR FATHERS INHERITED LIES!

And the liar who foisted these deceits on the ‘christian empire’ was NOT EVEN A BELIEVER! He waited until his DEATH BED to consider being ‘immersed’, and when he did, he was ‘baptized’ by a man who did NOT accept his ‘homoousios’ clause! Eusebius!

THIS is the man who began to ‘change the seasons and the torah’ officially, with the backing of the state. And those who came after him eventually had to use MURDER in order to get the majority of the people to comply. One day soon, this SAME SPIRIT will govern the whole world. And, I tell you now, our country is governed by a man and his followers who follow this SAME SPIRIT.

They are now changing the Torah: making it ‘legal’ for men to marry men, women to marry women, and for babies to be murdered in the womb and out. This was done in the ‘churches’ first, and now it is becoming the law of the land. So, we cannot utterly blame the lawmakers. ALL of this stems from that acquiescent, fearful attitude of those 250 “bishops” nearly 1700 years ago, who had no courage to stand for the TRUTH. They caved, because the world leader told them they needed to. They wanted the power he offered, and feared death. They themselves were not of Messiah, because the people of Messiah do not fear the death threats of MEN: Rev 2:10, 12:11, Matt 10:28.

Is this really who you want to follow? Or would you follow Messiah, and imitate Him, who Himself kept the Appointed times of His Father?

If you check the rest of scripture, you find that this ‘spirit of the lying Messiah’ is a killer of the people of Messiah. It always has been, and always will be. Since “Tzedaka” means ‘innocent’, this spirit goes to killing the ‘innocent’ first. Babies. Before it has to oppose thinking adults. It does so to eliminate the possibility of children hearing of the truth, and following the truth. It does so to ‘destroy’. But, eventually this spirit begins to kill the people as well, realizing that tactic is not working swiftly enough, so they begin targeting those who oppose the wickedness. The prophets wrote of it:

“In that day יהוה with His sore and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the slant serpent, and leviathan the tortuous serpent; and He will slay the dragon that is in the sea.” Is 27:1

“And he shall constantly harass the set apart ones of Elyon [The Most High].” Dan 7:25

“The dragon was infuriated over the woman and went off to fight the rest of her children, those who OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS of Elohim AND bear witness to Yeshua.”

“So it [the beast] opened its mouth in blasphemies against Elohim to insult his name [יהוה] and his Sh’khinah, and those living in heaven; it was allowed to make war on the holy people of Elohim and to defeat them; and it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.” Rev 13:6-7

“and it was allowed to cause anyone who would not worship the image of the beast to be put to death.” Rev 13:15

Notice the passive wording in the last two verses? “It was allowed to…” Elohim is allowing this. For what purpose? To bring ‘tribulation’ on HIS OWN PEOPLE! Those who confess Him, but do not obey Him! The ‘tribulation’ of the ‘end times’ is NOT for the wicked! It’s to make the people of Elohim choose one way or the other! It is to ‘sift’ wheat and tare. It is to PROVE who REALLY belongs to Him, and who is just giving Him ‘lip service’. It’s to bring a lukewarm heart to a point of decision, to make it either ‘hot’ or ‘cold’. And the beautiful thing is that many of His People finally will choose the right [Torah] and oppose wickedness, but it will be through fire. It will be through great affliction that the decision will finally be made to quit pandering to evil, compromising with it, mixing truth with lies. It will be through hardship like no one has ever known that will finally purify the people of faith to “OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS of Elohim AND bear witness to Yeshua!”

The US has more people per capita that confess to believe in the Messiah by conversion [not born into Catholicism]. At the same time, the US spends more money on wickedness than any other nation. The people of the US collectively elect officials who do not meet the requirements of “Shoftim”. The Torah tells us to put qualified people in charge of interpreting the law.

“They shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not twist judgment; you shall not respect persons; nor shall you take a bribe; for a gift does blind the eye of the wise and pervert the words of the righteous. Justice, Justice shall you follow…”

Our lawmakers spend most of their time taking bribes/gifts, getting money written into laws to placate a few, so that they can guarantee their re-election. Many such other twisted things are done in the name of our law, it would take forever to expose all of it. But the point I want to make is that in spite of the number of people who call themselves believers in this country, the wickedness far outweighs the righteousness, even among believers. And the absence of worshipping G-d the way HE would have it and interpreting the scriptures the way Messiah taught us is one of the main reasons.

A child can see that S-nday is not the seventh day of the week; all he has to do is look at his calendar. A child soon learns that mommy and daddy are okay with lying to him, when he hears that ‘sant-a clau-se’ is not ‘real’. Most christian children eventually have to struggle with the reality that the Messiah was not born at ‘christmas’, but by the time he does, usually there is no sense of recognizing compromise, no realization that the original use of that day was for the celebration of the slaughter of babies, of Jews, and of sexual revelry, and that most of those customs today are the ones used to actually celebrate the ‘mass of the infant’; a mass is an execution, and this particular one was done at the base of trees on that day. Most kids understand that rabbits do not lay eggs, yet their parents insist that they hunt for eggs year after year, put there by the e’ster bunny, the two symbols of the goddess ‘Ishtar’ who was worshipped at ‘quartodecimen’, the catholic-calculated time of the roman goddess of fertility: Easter.

When the colonies were founded, these things were illegal. They were not celebrated here in large part for nearly 100 years after the revolution. But people abandoned that sense of ‘purity’, and yielded to ‘grace theology’ that ignores the fact that YHWH is STILL a jealous G-d, and does not want His people having ANYTHING to do with the likes of these.

The scriptures alone instruct us on how to approach G-d; and yes, it is by way of the Messiah Yeshua. But, Messiah Yeshua did not practice any of these things. He worshipped His Father on the seventh-day Sabbath in an assembly house, and NOT a ‘church’ on s-nday.
Luke 4:16, 6:6, John 6:59, 18:20

He kept the Passover, Matzot, Firstfruits, and Shavuot, teaching them as shadows of His own ministry on earth; He kept Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot [John 6-8]. He even kept Khanukkah [John 10]. He was born during Sukkot, in a sukka [not an animal shed], in the fall season of the “Light of the World”. He was The Word in Flesh, not “god in flesh”. His Father was still on His throne, and Yeshua communed with Him perfectly, but He was flesh and bone, tempted as every other man is. God cannot be tempted. He deferred all allegiance to His Father, and did not claim perfect equality with Him: He testified that there were things only His Father knew. He is not ‘consubstantial’ with His Father, but is a glorified, resurrected MAN with a flesh and bone body, now standing at the right hand of His Father.

He does NOT like the practices of men’s religions [Rev 2-3] mixed with the pure faith of the Torah. But since the majority of believers in the US reject this knowledge, and perpetuate the practice of mixing paganism with worshiping the creator [some even believing that the creation was not done mightily in six days], this country will eat the fruit of its own making, and soon be shown that faithfulness and purity with G-d is what matters, and not a spirit of compromise and capitulation. The USA is about to become a third-world, impoverished, nanny state. Of this I have no doubt. It will be weakened to the point of being completely irrelevant in world politics. He has given us space to repent. But, will anyone truly ‘hear’ HIS VOICE [The Torah]?

It is noble when ‘christians’ site II Chronicles and assert “If my people, which are called by MY Name [יהוה – see II Chron 7:12], will humble themselves and pray, and seek MY face, and TURN from their wicked ways, then I will hear in heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

But, there are several things that are not heeded when this verse is [mis]quoted.

It is יהוה speaking. The G-d of Avraham, Yitz’khak and Ya’akov, and NOT the god of Constantine. To “turn” is to RETURN to the Torah, since wickedness is defined by breaking the Torah.

Christianity has been deceived for far too long; [Dan 9:4-19] but, there ARE many within the institutions of christianity who do know quite simply that Yeshua the Messiah is the Son of G-d, and that He died in their place for their sins against the Torah. It is to those I appeal. And they do strive to live circumspectly. But, in these last hours, He is calling those people out of harlotry, out of spiritual adultery, out of the mixing of paganism with the worship of the Almighty, out of religion for profit.

He put us in this place for His own reasons, just as He put Yisrael in Babylon for His own reasons, but He then called Yisrael OUT of Babylon so he could destroy it, and He is calling His people OUT of spiritual Babylon again: Babylon is the mixture of worshipping ‘whatever one wants’ with some truth. It is the spirit of compromise, which ALWAYS eventually puts a man at the top, deified, ‘infallible’, unchallenged. We are there in this country today, just as Rome was in 308AD. The ‘spirit’ of anti-Messiah has most people trapped. Do not be one of them. And do not think that a delay in turning from pagan worship will get you any ‘favor’. If the shofar sounds, and THE anti-Messiah rises to power, and you have not turned back to Torah, G-d HIMSELF will force you to believe THE LIE. What lie? That lie that the man at the top is “Jesus”. This anti-Messiah will say he is Jesus, and Buddah, and Mohammed, and god, and all that is holy. And you will believe him! Because יהוה will not allow you to ‘see’ THE LIE as a lie, but force you to believe it. Do you not hear that? G-D ALMIGHTY WILL FORCE YOU TO BELIEVE in the lying Messiah! II Thess 2:7-12.

“For the mystery of lawlessness [torah-lessness :: religion of ‘christ’ outside of Torah] is already at work; only, if that which now holds is taken out of the midst, then shall the wicked one be revealed, whom Adon Yeshua will consume by the breath of His mouth, and will abolish by the revelation of His coming. For the coming of that wicked one is the working of HaSatan, with all power, with signs, and false miracles, and with all unrighteous deception which is done in them who perish, because they received NOT the LOVE of the TRUTH by which they might be rescued. Wherefore, Elohim [God] will send them the working of deception, that they will believe THE LIE, and all of them will be judged who have not believed the TRUTH, but have had pleasure in unrighteousness”.

Babylon is mixture religion: “Come out of HER my people, that you not be partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues”. Rev 18:4  Is it really so hard to realize that S-nday worship is OFFENSIVE to G-d?  “Also the gentiles that join themselves to יהוה, to minister unto Him, and to love the name of יהוה, to be His servants, every gentile that keeps the sabbath from profaning it, and holds fast by My covenant: Even them will I bring to My holy mountain [above], and make them joyful in My house of prayer; their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices shall be acceptable upon Mine altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Is 56:6-7 [Also quoted in the ‘new testament’]

“And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places, you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of PATHS to dwell in. IF you turn away your foot because of the Sabbath, from pursuing YOUR business on MY HOLY DAY; and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of יהוה honourable; and shall honour it, not doing your wonted ways, nor pursuing your business, nor speaking thereof; THEN shall you delight yourself in יהוה, and I will make you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father; for the mouth of יהוה has spoken it.” Is 58:12-14

The ‘Sabbath’ is the SEVENTH DAY. HIS SABBATH was never changed. That is a LIE:
“And they set up FALSE witnesses [LIARS!] , which said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and against the TORAH: For we have heard him say that this Yeshua of Natzaret shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moshe delivered us.” Acts 6:13-14

“And when they heard [it], they glorified יהוה, and said unto him, You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe [in Yeshua]; and they are all zealous for the Torah: And they are informed of you, that you [Shaul/Paul] teach all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses [Torah], saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, NEITHER TO WALK AFTER THE CUSTOMS.” Acts 21:20-21

IT WAS A LIE THEN; IT IS A LIE NOW!!!!!!

Is it so unpalatable to think the יהוה, the Almighty, might not like His Children moving their ‘sabbath’ away from HIS Sabbath? The penalty for denying the Sabbath, for forgetting the Sabbath, was DEATH. Yes, Yeshua has removed from us the penalty [weight] of the Torah; but, only until the JUDGMENT DAY. At that point, anyone who does not walk in His Ways will suffer the weight of the Torah and be denied by Yeshua. And yes, believers, any who reject His Ways, when they have learned of them, will endure the punishment, because they have proven that their faith is vain! “Depart from me, you breakers of Torah: I NEVER KNEW YOU!” Matt 7:21 , Luke 13:27. “DEPART FROM ME, you workers of iniquity, FOR I WILL KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF MY G-D”. Ps 119:115

The Torah, indeed, does not get one the gift of the Ruakh HaKodesh nor forgiveness of sin. Faith does. But, once one has that gift, that forgiveness, one is supposed to LEARN to walk as Messiah walked. “He that says he abides in Him [Yeshua] ought himself to walk HIS HALAKHA”. Halakha is a Jewish term that means “how one follows the Torah”. It gets lost in translation. Yeshua walked the Torah! He taught us how to walk it. It is now time for the Ruakh to teach all of His followers how to do so. May we be so inclined! Wake up, and trim your lamp [your understanding of the Torah!].

“It is time for יהוה to WORK. For THEY have made void YOUR TORAH”. Ps 119.126
Constantine and the catholic/christian leaders did it! NOT YESHUA! [Matt 5:17-19]

Yeshua’s whole ministry was about restoring people to the Torah, the Word of יהוה, rightly divided in guidance of the Ruakh HaKodesh. Grace is completely misunderstood, with most people using it as an excuse for pandering to their sin-nature. We will ALWAYS fight our sin-nature, our human propensity to disobey G-d: but, we must FIGHT. The simplicity of the fight is given to us in Torah: “Stand still, and ‘see’ the Yeshua [Salvation] of יהוה.”

Yeshua has indeed given us His Ruakh [Breath/”Spirit”]. For the purpose of showing us our infractions against the Torah [sins]! He does NOT want us blending the faith of G-d with paganism. If you have not ‘seen’ that yet, my prayer is that you do. And that you repent. Why is it when one calls for repentance in the people of Elohim, that one is attacked and hated? Yeshua explains it: they did not come to the Light [Torah/Messiah] because they LOVE their “po’alei aven”. Their ‘evil deeds’: their infractions against His Word/Torah. Do you love the traditions of MEN [Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Sunday worship, grace theology that does not deal with sin] so much that you cannot HEAR HIS VOICE? His VOICE is HIS TORAH!

“If you shall hearken to the VOICE of יהוה your G-d, so that you obey HIS mitzvot and regulations which are written in this BOOK OF TORAH, if you turn to יהוה your G-d with all your heart and all your being; For this mitzvah which I am giving you today is NOT TOO HARD FOR YOU, it is not beyond your reach. It isn’t in the sky, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will go up into the sky for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ Likewise, it isn’t beyond the sea, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ On the contrary, the WORD is very close to you – in your mouth, even in your heart; therefore, you can do it!

VOICE=BOOK OF TORAH=WORD=YESHUA=RUAKH [Rom 7:14]

Khadashot Shevu’it

This week’s best news is this:

Planned Parenthood is backing out of receiving a large ‘donation’ from taxpayers!

Trump had an initiative to remove them from receiving federal funds, because they use it for murder.

Abortion, as I have written before, is the biggest shame the American culture bears.  The very idea that our government would permit the murder of 60 MILLION babies over the last forty-some-odd years is appalling.  The fact that citizens have stood silently by is, to me, mind-numbing, that we’d just go about our day and not consider the slaughter of innocent lives, people who have no defense but their mothers against murder , and their mothers are the very ones inciting the violence against them.  It is unconscionable. Yet, here we are.

But, the GOOD NEWS is that now there is growing opposition, and even an increasing desire among VOTERS to overturn Roe V. Wade, and to STOP the murder of innocent children that is done in the name of ‘family planning’, ‘birth control’, ‘women’s health’, and such other ridiculous euphemisms for brutal murder.  This issue is the one that has, in my estimation, fueled the new political divide in America the most.  The left rants and raves about other things, like gun control, and health care, and calling illegal aliens ‘immigrants’, and the ‘right’ to bilk free stuff from the tax payer, but their pet platform issue is abortion.  They will circle the wagons and protect that idol the most.  Even those who lean only moderately left will do this.

The hypocrisy of the left is mind-numbing.  On the one hand, they say a woman should have ‘freedom of choice’ over her ‘health issues’, but on the other hand demand that the father have absolutely no choice over the life of the child he put in her womb.  On the one hand they say that killing animals should be a crime, but killing their own children is a right.  On the one hand they say that a possible living molecule found on Mars is life, but the infant in her womb, all the way up to the point of birth, is not a life.  They are truly the fulfillment of the verse, “The god of this world has blinded them.”  They cannot even ‘see’ the idiocy of their own thinking, because they love their horrible ‘choices’.  Each of these choices feeds the god of self.

I am truly grateful that the brakes were put on Planned Parenthood, even if it only slows them down a bit.  I wish it would come to all stop.  But, the god of this world truly does rule the day, and I’m not yet confident the believing community has the khutzpah to stand up against the left for the long haul.  To me, the ‘right’ seems half-hearted, divided, and laissez faire about this very serious issue.  Overturning R v. W should be priority number one for the U. S.  I still contend that this issue is the impetus for the demise of our country.  We seem to have been given space to repent, and an opportunity to fix it, but very few societies of history have ever followed through on that opportunity.  Would it not be nice for us to turn back to a humble, obedient, clean-living society?  I’d go for it…

What sin, a Name?

[borrowed from battzion.org]

In the Bible, a name has much more meaning than just the letters that compose it. A name represents the character of a person, and their reputation. It is literally “who” they are. We see times where Elohim, our Creator, changed the names of His servants. Perhaps because they had exhibited a change in character, or because He knew that they at some point would. We see this when Avram’s name was changed to Avraham, and when He changed Ya’akov to Yisra’el. We see Ya’akov change the name of his son from Ben Oni to Binyamin, and Moshe changed Hoshe’ah to Yehoshua. We are also told in Hitgalut 3:12:

“He who overcomes I will make a pillar in the Heikhal of my Elohim, and he shall not go out again; and I will write upon him the Name of my Elohim and the Name of  Yerushalayim HaKhadashah which comes down out of heaven from my Elohim; and I will write upon him my new Name.”

Names are therefore important in scripture, and no name is more important than the Name of our Creator. When we talk about the Name of Elohim, what are we talking about? We know He has many names, but most are actually titles. He says of Himself in Shemot 3:14

“Ehyeh asher ehyeh” (I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE).  However, He goes on to say in verse 15:

“And Elohim said moreover unto Moshe, “Thus shall you say unto B’nei Yisra’el, ‘ יהוה   ,  the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitz’khak, and the Elohim of Ya’akov, has sent me unto you; this is My Name forever, and this is My memorial unto all generations.”

The language is pretty clear that the name of Elohim is  יהוה ,  and it is His Name forever. He also says that it is a memorial unto all generations. The word Zikhri, “My memorial”, is from the root ‘zekher,’ which means just what it says, a memorial, more specifically, however, a remembrance by speaking.

We can see with this simple reading of scripture that Elohim does have a Name, and that Name is His Name forever, and that Name is supposed to be a spoken memorial throughout all generations. But how can you remember something that you don’t say? The Jewish people haven’t spoken His Name for almost 2,000 years, and guess what? They forgot how to say it, or at least most of them did, and now they will say that not knowing how to pronounce it is another reason that we cannot speak it. That doesn’t sound like treating His Name as a spoken memorial, does it? A memorial is supposed to be remembered.

Before going over the manmade tradition of not saying the Name of יהוה , let’s instead for a moment forget all manmade doctrine, all traditions that we have heard or been taught. Let us instead look at Scripture, apart from interpretation, for a moment, and see what we can come up with in regard to speaking the name of יהוה .

If we were to read the entire Tanakh in Hebrew and we were to count the number of times that the Name יהוה appeared, we would see that it appears some 6,800 times. If we look at the context and what is happening at the times that the Name יהוה appears, we would see that many of those are records of actual conversations. That means that what was written is what was said or spoken. If we believe that Scripture is true, we have to acknowledge that His Name was spoken thousands of times by a lot of people, according to His Word.

There are also times we see that Scripture specifically says that His Name was spoken. For example:

In Ber’shit 4:26 “Enosh Az Hukhal Likro B’Shem יהוה ” , “then men began to call upon the Name יהוה ”.

The Hebrew Word in this verse for ‘call’ is from ‘Kara,’ and according to a Jewish Lexicon, that word means: to call out (that is, properly address by name, but also used in a wide variety of applications) to call for, to cry out, to make a proclamation, pronounce, say.

We also see that  יהוה  commanded people to SAY His Name. We already saw one incident in Shemot 3:15 “Thus shall you say unto B’nei Yisra’el, ‘ יהוה the Elohim of your fathers…” The Hebrew word for ‘say’ here is VaOmer, from the word ‘amar,’ which simply means to say or speak.

Later in Shemot chapter 9:15, through Moshe, יהוה tells Paroh why He has not yet destroyed him:

“Surely now I would have put forth My hand, and smitten you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth. But in very deed for this cause have I made you to stand, to show you My power, and that My Name may be declared throughout all the earth.”

In D’varim chapter 26 (parashat KiTavo) the Yisra’elites are commanded to perform something very specific:

“And it shall be, when you come in unto the land which יהוה your Elohim gives you for an inheritance, and possess it, and dwell therein; 2that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you shall bring in from your land that יהוה your Elohim gives you; and you shall put it in a basket and shall go unto the place which יהוה your Elohim shall choose to cause His Name to dwell there. 3And you shall come unto the kohen that shall be in those days, and say unto him, ‘I profess this day unto יהוה our Elohim, that I am come unto the land which יהוה swore unto our fathers to give us.’ 4And the kohen shall take the basket out of your hand, and set it down before the Mizbe’akh of יהוה your Elohim. 5And you shall speak and say before יהוה your Elohim, ‘A wandering Arami was my father, and he went down into Mitzrayim, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous. 6And Mitzrayim dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage. 7And we cried unto יהוה the Elohim of our fathers, and יהוה heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression. 8And יהוה brought us forth out of Mitzrayim with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders. 9And He has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10And now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the land, which You, O יהוה have given me.’And you shall set it down before יהוה your Elohim, and worship before יהוה your Elohim.”

Six times every individual Yisra’elite would have had to say the Name of יהוה before the kohen when they performed this command.

In Shemot 24:3 we have another example of being told to speak His Name.

“And Moshe came and told the people all the D’varim of ,יהוה and all the Mishpatim; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, “All the D’varim which יהוה has spoken, will we do.”

We have given just a few examples here, but there are countless examples of people speaking or being told to speak the Name יהוה in Scripture. Now let’s look at some examples where יהוה commands people to read His Word, and within that reading, His Name is present. This is very important, and we will get to why in a minute.

Continuing on in Shemot chapter 24, starting in verse 4 it says:

“And Moshe wrote all the D’varim of יהוה , and rose up early in the morning, and built a Mizbe’akh under the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Yisra’el. 5And he sent the young men of B’nei Yisra’el, who offered Olot and sacrificed Sh’lamim of oxen unto יהוה .  And Moshe took half of the blood and put it in basins; and half of the blood he dashed against the Mizbe’akh. 7And he took the Sefer HaBrit, and read in the hearing of the people; and they said, “All that יהוה has spoken will we do and obey.” 8And Moshe took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, “Behold the blood of the Brit, which יהוה  has made with you in agreement with all these words.”

If we count the times the Name יהוה is listed in the B’rit that Moshe wrote, we have seven times in the 10 D’varim alone. Then, if we count the mishpatim that were given from the beginning of chapter 21 to the end of chapter 23, we see there are five more times. So we know that within the B’rit, the covenant here, His Name is written at least 12 times. We also know that Moshe was commanded to read ALL the words, so we know His Name was read out loud multiple times here to all of Yisra’el.

We also see in D’varim 27:8 that when the blessings and curses are read Elohim commands them:

“And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this Torah very plainly.”

Continuing on in D’varim 27 when the blessings and curses are spoken from mount Gerizim and mount Eval starting in verse 14 it says:

“And the Levi’im shall speak, and say unto all the men of Yisra’el with a loud voice,…”

What follows is that in a loud voice from chapter 27:14 through chapter 28:68 the Levi’im spoke in a loud voice and used the name יהוה fourty-one times. This was also written in plaster for the purpose of being read aloud.

In Yehoshua 8:32-35 we read that Yehoshua did the same thing.

“Then Yehoshua built a mizbe’akh unto יהוה Elohei Yisra’el, in Har Eval, as Moshe the servant of יהוה commanded B’nei Yisra’el, as it is written in the book of the Torah of Moshe, a mizbe’akh of unhewn stones, upon which no man had lifted up any iron; and they offered thereon Olot unto יהוה , and sacrificed Sh’lamim. 32And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the Torah of Moshe, which he wrote before B’nei Yisra’el. 33And all Yisra’el, and their elders and officers, and their shoftim, stood on this side of the Aron and on that side before the Kohanim, the Levi’im that bore the Aron HaBrit יהוה , as well the stranger as the home-born; half of them in front of Har Gerizim and half of them in front of Har Eval; as Moshe the servant of יהוה had commanded at the first, that they should bless the people of Yisra’el. 34And afterward he read all the words of the Torah, the blessing and the curse, according to all that is written in the Sefer HaTorah. 35There was not a word of all that Moshe commanded which Yehoshua read not before all the congregation of Yisra’el, and the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that walked among them.”

To recap so far:

1. The Name of  יהוה  is written in the Tanakh about 6,800 times, and a large portion of those occurrences are just historical records of actual conversations where people are saying His Name.

2. We see יהוה Himself say that one of the purposes of the plagues in Mitzrayim was so that His Name was proclaimed throughout the world.

3. There are many times we see that the Name of יהוה was commanded to be spoken.

4. We also see examples of times where His Name is commanded to be written and subsequently read aloud.

5. יהוה said that His Name is His Name forever and that it is to be a spoken Memorial (aka something to be remembered by speaking.)

In further support of this conclusion, we can look to David and Yehonatan.

When David was about to depart, Yehonatan, who loved David intimately, was grieved very sorely. In direct contrast to his own father’s commitment to kill David, Yehonatan makes a covenant with David:

“Go in shalom, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the Name of  יהוה ,  saying: יהוה shall be between me and you, and between my seed and your seed, forever.” Shmu’el Alef 20:42

This is an intimate, private conversation between two men, outside the formal, commanded practices of Judaic faith, and the Name is clearly uttered here by Yehonatan, who is not a kohen, a levite, nor a prophet. There are many such other instances where the Name is uttered in such ‘casual’ context, such as between Ruut and Na’omi. Clearly, the Name was used by the faithful in any setting where they are glorifying the creator, calling on Him, or speaking about Him.

If we had no manmade traditions to look to regarding the act of speaking His Name out loud, and all we did was to read scripture, we would not ever question whether we should or should not speak His Name.  Many people throughout scripture spoke the name of  יהוה , and many were even commanded to, not to mention that His Name is supposed to be a spoken memorial, in order to be remembered.

How did it come to this, then? That Yisra’el, whom  יהוה   brought out of Mitzryim and who were told by Moshe that: “ יהוה , the Elohim of your fathers…sent me” forgot how to say His Name, and forgot that His Name IS a memorial? Two words: ‘bad doctrine.’ That’s how. By listening to men who follow their own made up traditions in place of the clear Word of the Creator of the universe: יהוה .

Now that we took a brief look at what Scripture clearly says let’s look at the other side of this “argument”.

The act of not saying the Name of יהוה is tradition. It is not commanded anywhere in Scripture. In fact, just the opposite is commanded. We are to proclaim the Name of  יהוה .  There is, however, one passage of scripture in VaYikra chapter 24 that, to some, may seem to say that we are not supposed to speak the Name, but that is because the English rendering in some Bibles is not actually what the Hebrew says, but words have been added to support the doctrine of not saying the Name.

Here is the English rendering of VaYikra 24:11 and 24:15-16 from Chabad, but many other Jewish translations follow this example of translation:

“And the son of the Israelite woman pronounced the [Divine] Name and cursed…(24:11)
And to the children of Israel, you shall speak, saying: Any man who blasphemes his God shall bear his sin; And one who blasphemously pronounces the Name of the Lord, shall be put to death; the entire community shall stone him; convert and resident alike if he pronounces the [Divine] Name, he shall be put to death.”

What the Hebrew actually says in these passages is this:

וַיִּקֹּב בֶּן-הָאִשָּׁה הַיִּשְׂרְאֵלִית אֶת-הַשֵּׁם, וַיְקַלֵּל, וַיָּבִיאוּ אֹתוֹ, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה; וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ שְׁלֹמִית בַּת-דִּבְרִי, לְמַטֵּה-דָן

Verse 11 literally says: and Blasphemed (ViYikov from the root nakav which means; to puncture, literally or figuratively to libel, in other words to somehow do damage to.) the son of the Israelite woman et ‘the Name’ and cursed (VaY’kalel from the root Kalel which means to make light, trifling, or vile).

Verses 15 and 16 literally say: And to all the sons of Yisra’el speak to say man, man (any man) whoever curses (Kalal) his Elohim bears his penalty. And (he that) blasphemes (Nakav) the Name of יהוה (shall) die (mot), die (yumat) (surely die) cast together, cast. All the assembly, or resident stranger or native born, when he blasphemes (Nakav) the Name shall die.

So, a better English rendering is:

“And you shall speak unto B’nei Yisra’el, saying, ‘Whoever curses his Elohim shall bear his sin. And he that blasphemes the Name of יהוה , he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him; the stranger, as well as the home-born, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.”

Nowhere in the Hebrew text does it say anything about simply speaking or pronouncing His name. This section of scripture is about Blaspheming, i.e. damaging the Name, the character and reputation of יהוה , specifically by cursing another human in His Name. The Jewish translators here do a sinful thing, they break a commandment of יהוה :  “Do not add to or take away from this Torah”, to support a manmade tradition: ‘Do not speak the Name of  יהוה .’

However, not all Jewish tradition is bad or wrong, as some teach. In fact, much of it is good, and it points us to the Torah. We just have to be able to discern between the two. We are given a clear measuring stick with which to judge whether or not we should keep a tradition. That measuring stick is the teachings of our Master, Yeshua HaMashiakh.

If a tradition causes us to break a commandment of יהוה , it is not a tradition we should practice. Also, if a tradition adds to or takes away from the Word of יהוה , then it is a tradition that is causing us to break that commandment. If Yeshua taught against it, either directly or in principle, we should not practice that tradition.

If we apply these qualifications of practicing a tradition to this particular tradition, what do we get?

1. Does the tradition of not speaking the Name of יהוה cause us to break a commandment? – Yes, we are commanded to proclaim His Name, and His Name is supposed to be a spoken memorial for all time.

2. Does the tradition of not speaking the Name of יהוה cause us to add to or take away from the Torah? – Yes, when we read Scripture we would have to take away His Name and replace it with something else.

3. Does Yeshua teach against this tradition? No: however, the fact is that because we lost so many Jewish historical records with the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash and the scattering of the Jewish people by Rome, we cannot prove precisely when this tradition started, nor, more importantly, when it became widespread among Jews.

4. Does Yeshua practice this tradition of not saying the Name of יהוה ?  No, He does speak the Name.  And furthermore, He would have had to speak it, in order to keep the COMMAND to declare HIS NAME.

It is clear by this evaluation that we should not follow this tradition, because it does go against Torah. If this tradition clearly breaks Torah, then why are so many Messianic believers following it, and teaching others that they must follow it?

The simple answer is because messianic believers want to be accepted by mainstream Judaism. In principle, this is precisely why the book of Galatians was written! Non-Messianic Jews were convincing Messianic gentiles that they needed to follow the manmade TRADITION/LAW of being circumcised in order to be saved. This was and still is a RABBINIC TRADITION! It is manmade, not commanded in scripture, and in fact goes against the commandment of Elohim that EMUNAH [absolute trust/faith] ALONE gives us Salvation! The Jewish Rabbis of today and yesteryear DO hang ‘salvation’ on breaking THEIR command of not speaking the Name, and that fear adds to the desire of Messianic people to please the Rabbis. The principle is the same as the circumcision issue in Galatians. Sha’ul would disapprove of it, considering he, too, spoke the Name:

“Do I seek to please men? For, if I tried to please men, I would not be a servant of Mashi’akh.” Gal 1:10

But Messianics are rejected, not because of traditions we do not keep, but we are rejected because of our trust in and declaration of the B’sorah of יהוה Yeshua HaMashiakh!

The sad fact is that many believers who live a Torah observant life, that practice many of the customs of Yisra’el, feel like “fake Jews,” because they do not have the acceptance from man, and they desire that acceptance, instead of what they should desire, and that is acceptance from יהוה and from His Mashiakh ONLY.

There are some Messianic teachers that teach that Yeshua did not use the Name of יהוה when He spoke, because He was adhering to the rabbinic tradition. This might sound like a good argument when we look at the Gospels and see that Messiah so often referred to יהוה as Abba or Av (Father), or some variation of those. This teaching does not hold up to scrutiny, however, and just because Yeshua mostly used Abba and Avi when referring to His Father does not mean that using the name יהוה was bad. Yeshua never taught that.

Some Messianic teachers even go so far as to say they can “prove” this, and they use Luke 4:17 and teach that when Yeshua read from the book of Yesha-Yahu, that He said “Adonai”, and it’s an open and closed case. This is not only a bad teaching, it is dishonest. These same teachers use a translation from the Greek, and in the Greek, the word used to translate יהוה is Kuriou, a conjugation of the Greek word Kurios, but it is also the same Greek word used to translate Adonai. So there is no way, by reading a Greek manuscript or a translation of a Greek manuscript, that you can “prove” that Yeshua said “Adonai” instead of יהוה .  By contrast, the Aramaic Peshitta uses different words to translate Adonai and יהוה .  Mara, meaning master, is the Aramaic word used for Adonai in the Hebrew. Marya is the Aramaic word used only to translate the Name of Elohim, יהוה .  In Luke 4:17 in the Aramaic Peshitta, the word ‘Marya’ is used, which makes sense, because He is reading the scroll of Yesha-Yahu, and in that verse, the Name יהוה  is what is written in a scroll that would be read in a Synagogue.

But more importantly, Messiah had to use the name of יהוה , because it is written in the Torah, and if it was His turn to read, then He would not change His Word when reading it.  He would have been lying by reading what was not written in the text.  Today, most translations remove His Name, and REPLACE it with “LORD/Lord/Adonai/Hashem”.

And if Yeshua would not have said the Name of יהוה where it appeared in the Word, then He would have sinned by taking away from the Torah.  And He was without sin.  It would have been, and still is, a LIE as to what was written in the text.  He also knew that the Name of His Father is  יהוה  , because it was the same Name that was given to Him.

We also see several verses before He read in the Beit K’nesset, where He quoted verses from the book of D’varim to HaSatan.

“And the accuser said to Him, “I will give you all this power and its glory, which are delivered to me, and I give it to whom I please; if therefore you worship me, it will all be yours.”Yeshua answered, saying to him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship יהוה your Elohim, and Him only you shall serve.’” And he brought Him to Yerushalayim and made Him to stand up on the ledge of the Heikhal, and said to Him, “If you are Ben HaElohim, throw yourself down from here; for it is written, ‘He will command His Malakhim concerning you, to keep watch over you; And they will take you up in their arms, so that even your foot may not strike a stone. ’Yeshua answered, saying to him, “It is said, ‘You shall not test יהוה your Elohim.’” When the accuser was through with all his temptations, he left Him for a while.

He would not have left out the Name of יהוה when quoting scripture, because, again, He would be taking away from the Torah.  And the Brit Khadashah writers, had He said Adonai or Hashem, would certainly have written that, if it were indeed the prevailing custom of the day, especially Semitic Peshitta people.

So we see from an honest look at the Word of יהוה that Yeshua not only did use the Name of יהוה , but He had to use it, because He could not sin and still be our perfect Khatat sacrifice. He was guiltless of any transgression of the Torah.

The last thing to ponder, then, is why would Yeshua use Abba or Avi so much more than using the Name of יהוה ?

Because those that came before Yeshua, who trusted in and were servants of the Most High, knew Him as their King and their Elohim, and referred to Him by His titles or His Name, which IS a memorial to be remembered by speaking. But Yeshua didn’t just love יהוה  and have a relationship with Him only as His Elohim. Yeshua came out of His Father, and  יהוה  IS His Father, His Abba. (Yokhanan 8:42)

When any of us talk about our fathers how do we usually do it? We say ‘my dad’ did this or ‘my dad’ used to do that or ‘my father’ was strict or ‘my father’ was kind. We would not go around saying “proper name” used to give me allowance or “proper name” used to go to all my baseball games, etc.

Yeshua referred to  יהוה  and spoke about Him with the intimacy He has with Him as a Son to a Father.

The prophecy that  יהוה  spoke concerning the B’rit Khadasha and concerning us is this:

“And no man shall teach his neighbor, neither his brother, saying, ‘Know  יהוה ‘, for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. And I will forgive their wickedness and I will no longer remember their sins’.” (Yermi-Yahu 31:34 & Ivrim 8:11)

That knowing is an intimate knowing. Yeshua knows the Father that closely, and He did not only bring us forgiveness of sin, He also brought us the Way and the opportunity to have the same intimacy with Him and with The Father that He shares with His Father.

The reason Yeshua called יהוה Abba and Avi had nothing to do with manmade doctrine, especially doctrine that violates Torah. But it had everything to do with the love and oneness He has with  יהוה  that He has given to us as well through our trust in Him.

“And because you are sons, Elohim has sent forth HaRu’akh of His Son into your hearts crying, “Abba, Avinu.” From now on you are not servants, but sons; and if sons, then heirs of Elohim through Yeshua HaMashi’akh.” (Gal 4:6)

“For you have not received the spirit of bondage, to be in fear again; but you have received HaRu’akh of adoption, whereby we cry “Abba;” “Avinu.” And this Ru’akh bears witness to our spirit, that we are the children of Elohim. And if children, then heirs, heirs of Elohim and joint heirs with Yeshua HaMashi’akh; so that if we suffer with Him, we shall also be glorified with him.” (Rom 8:15)

Do not follow doctrine because it sounds right or because “everyone is doing it”. Do not follow a multitude into error, whether they are Jewish Sages, christian leaders, or any sort of man.  Search the Scriptures yourself diligently.  Pray for wisdom and יהוה will give you understanding in His word. Stand up against doctrine that is not of יהוה and proclaim His Name, His spoken memorial to the world.

“Only Elohim is true, and every man is false; (Rom 3:2)”

(It was the breaking of the command to proclaim His Name that led not only to them, [Jews] but the whole world not saying/forgetting how to say His Name. At Bat-Tzion we do not claim to have ‘divine revelation’ in the pronunciation of His Name, but we have certainly done our due diligence to discover how to pronounce it, and we believe that we are as close as we can get, with the information we have. And we are teachable. If anyone shows more proof of a different pronunciation, we would be happy to change our Halakha on our pronunciation.  But, there has NEVER been an argument presented by anyone, great or small, that can overturn the clear edict of scripture to SAY HIS NAME.)
