I am currently studying/preparing for a new study on the Kingdom of Messiah and of Elohim.
It is ONE kingdom. [Ef 5:5]
In meditating on this during my ride in on the bus this morning, I thought of the ‘Tzitz Zahav Tahor’, the “Crown of Pure Gold” [seen above] that is on the Kohen HaGadol [High Priest].
When I ‘saw’ that, I was reminded of the intimate relationship this has to the tzitziyot we wear.
Below are the verses where the command for each of these are given:
First is the command to Moshe for him to make a crown of pure gold, and to engrave upon it the engraving of a ‘seal’/signet : “Kadosh La יהוה ”, or “Set apart unto Yah.”
The second is the command to Yisra’el to make the ‘tzitzit’ an put it on the four corners of our garments.
From right to left, the first red word in the first line is ‘tzitz,’ and below it is ‘tzitzit.’
In BOTH of these is a “petil tekhelet,” or a thread of sky blue.
Both of these are ‘reminders’.
One petil tekhelet is to hold the crown on the High Priest. The other is to be in the fringe of every Jew.
“And you shall make a tzitz of pure gold; and engrave upon it an engraving of a seal/signet [A Set Apart King for יהוה ] “Kodesh La יהוה ”.
This could be read this way, using the ‘meaning’ of each of the letters in tzitz:
The “La יהוה ” part [as well as other parts of this phrase] has an ‘image’ in the letters:
“King יהוה ”, since the lamed, the first letter in the second word on the crown, is the “King of Kings” in the Hebrew alphabet.
I usually am reminded of the throne room of Elohim when I think about these things, and the imagery that is in the alef-bet. The King of Kings is in the middle, with 12 on His right and 12 on His left; and then there are two “Standing By,” the ‘shin’ and the ‘tav’. But that’s another subject. Suffice it to say, there is all kinds of imagery there.
Do you ‘see’ it?
On the “Tzitz”, the ‘crown’, however, is this picture ליהוה
King יהוה .
And holding it on his head is a thread of blue, which is the same color as his robe.
And then we have a tzitzit, the ‘fringe.’ This word is from the root ‘tzitz,’ just like the ‘crown’!
And THIS is where it gets really interesting.
The ‘tzitz’ means ‘shining thing,’ but in other contexts, means FLOWER/BLOOM!
And, it’s the word used when the staff [and a Lamed, that tall letter, is a shepherd’s STAFF] of Aharon BUDDED [yatzitz] and produced BLOSSOMS. [tzitz]
So, our tizitzit that we wear on the four corners of our garments are alluding to the crown AND the robe of the High Priest, and His authority, the authority of the Priesthood. Messiah Yeshua has been given the priesthood, in the order of Malki Tzedek, “My Righteous [Tzadik/Tzedek] King.” And in ‘tzitz’ we have a picture of a Tzadik, the first letter, tzade, with a hand extended, and another tzadik. צִּיץ
And the tzitzit adds a ‘sign’ on the end. צִיצִת And in our text, has a King in front of it as well….
Abba gave us these things to show us something. I’ll leave the reader to look for all the other nuggets in this… if you’re studying the scriptures in Hebrew, you’ll begin to ‘see’ this in very conspicuous places.
The ‘crown’ of His Authority is The WORD of G-d. And it ‘sets us apart to יהוה .’ Doing His Word is what gives us His authority. Just as His brother, Ya’akov, wrote so many years ago:
“Therefore cast away all filthiness and all the multitude of evil things, and receive with meekness the implanted Davar [Word/Torah], which is able to save your souls. But be doers of HaDavar, and not hearers only, deceiving YOUR OWN SELVES. For if any is a hearer of HaDavar and not a doer, he is like a man who sees his face in a mirror; for he sees himself and goes his way and forgets how he looked. But whoever looks into the TORAH of complete liberty and abides in it is not merely a hearer of it, which can be forgotten, but a doer of THE WORK, and this man shall be blessed in his labor.”
Reading in Yokhanan 19 this morning.
A couple of things really stood out, and I’m going to take a little liberty here, just saying this is entirely possible, and something to think about:
They hung Yeshua on the tree, and a tablet of stone was placed on top of the stake that held Him to the tree.
On that tablet was an inscription first in Hebrew, THEN in Greek and then in Latin.
This tells me that Hebrew was STILL the primary language in Israel at the time; there were Roman soldiers occupying the city, and they spoke Greek and Latin; when soldiers occupy, so do their families, and other ‘supporting’ personnel. THAT is who the LATTER two inscriptions were for.
Many people going into Yerushalayim passed by the execution, and that is why the tablet was placed there, and there had to be a reason it was written in Hebrew FIRST. “Theologians” have told you for centuries that Jews no longer spoke Hebrew, and that the Brit Khadasha [NT] was written in Greek. That is just another lie from the ilk of Constantine, the GREEK leader of the LATIN [Roman] Empire when the JEWISH nature of the faith was DESTROYED and replaced with GREEK/EGYPTIAN dogma and theology.
If they no longer spoke Hebrew, why the inscription in Hebrew at the top? If they spoke only Greek, there would have been no need for the Hebrew. If they spoke Aramaic [which many of them likely did, but NOT primarily] why was it NOT written in Aramaic at all?
Secondly, in just a couple of verses prior, in the Aramaic text we are told that He was executed at a place “called Karafta IN HEBREW, and is also called Galguta.” Why did the writer have to specify the Aramaic, if Aramaic was the primary language? And, why was not the ‘greek’ given? Both of these words mean ‘skull’, by the way. In the Greek texts it ‘seems’ like it is necessary to translate it, and many THINK that Golgotha is the Hebrew word; it is NOT! It is Aramaic!
Is there another reason why the inscription on stone was written in Hebrew? While Aramaic is very similar, and uses the same alef-bet, the words would have been markedly different for this phrase, and the ‘code’ that was likely in it would not be there.
The Aramaic Peshitta text records this verse this way, translated into Hebrew literally:
“And the writing was,
זֶה יֵשׁוּעַ הַנָּצְרִי מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים
“This is Yeshua The Natzri King of the Jews.”
But, if Yokhanan, a Jew, wrote his B’sorah in Hebrew, which is entirely possible, he MAY have written it with one more letter, making the sentence more full. Rome may have had one more letter added on the word “king,” to provoke the religious Jews.
זֶה יֵשׁוּעַ הַנָּצְרִי וּמֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים
“This is Yeshua The Natzri, AND King of the Jews.”
If one looks at the words in Hebrew, above, and takes the first letter starting on the second word [from right to left] one sees the following acrostic message:
Couple that with the first word. זֶה , we have זֶה יהוה
“Ze יהוה ”
“This is יהוה “
If this is indeed how this message was written in Hebrew, it might explain further why the religious Jews wanted it changed, as the next verse reads!
This would be compelling, given what Shaul wrote to Philippi:
וְכָל-לָשׁוֹן תּוֹדֶה כִּי יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ הוּא יהוה לִכְבוֹד אֱלֹהִים הָאָב
“And every tongue will confess that Yeshua HaMashiakh, He is יהוה , to the glory of Elohim, His Father”
The Name is not seen in Greek manuscripts, because Constantine did not honor it. He changed it to “Kurious”, which means “Lord”. Look at what Jeremiah warns us about that:
“How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy LIES? Yes, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; which think to cause my people to FORGET MY NAME by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten My Name for “Lord”.” [Ba’al means ‘lord’]
This was happening in Israel when YirmiYahu prophesied, and it happened again in ‘christianity’. No surprise, as man has a hard time staying true to the Creator. [Constantine created christianity by telling the believing world he had a ‘dream’ that he saw a ‘sign’; that sign was a pagan symbol]
Acrostic messages in Hebrew scriptures are very, very common. I wish I had time to share some. In Genesis there is a message that is layered and complex:
Genesis 5 contains the ‘begats’ that most people hate to read. The meaning of the names of the men in this passage is the first layer of the ‘message’:
“Man is appointed mortal sorrow, but the blessed of God shall come down, teaching that His death shall bring the troubled COMFORT”.
These are the meanings of the names: Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalallel, Jerod, Enoch, Metuselah, Lameck, Noakh.
Further in this is an acrostic on these names:
Alef, Shin, Alef – I will forgive
Kof, Mem, Yod – my enemies
Khet, Mem, Lamed – compassionately
And it goes further in Moshe’s geneology, which I don’t have time to share!
Rabbi Kaduri, who died in about 2005, used an acrostic message out of the book of Nehemiah to tell his Rabbi son that the name of the Messiah was Yehoshua: Yeshua! It raised a stink in Israel, and has caused many ORTHODOX Jews to convert to trust in Messiah Yeshua!
It is an established, historical FACT that the gospel of Matti [Matthew] was written originally in Hebrew, and that the Jewish believers in Messiah in the fourth century CLUNG to that text. Constantine had forced the gentile believers to read only the newly translated greek versions. Wonder why?
It is my contention, and has been for quite some time, that all the gospels were penned originally in Hebrew. If the book of Yokhanan was, then it is possible that he reported an acrostic hanging over the head of the Messiah while He hung on the tree.
Matthew, Mark, and Luke’s version of what was written over His head at His death is slightly different, but, don’t forget, YOKHANAN was the ONLY male friend of Yeshua who was an eye witness to His dying on the tree, so he is the ONLY writer of the gospels who SAW, for HIMSELF, word for word, what was written there!
Yokhanan adds to the weight of this ‘possibility,’ when he writes in verse 37:
“and again another scripture [was fulfilled] which said, “They shall look on Him whom they pierced.”
This is Zekhar-Yah 12:10, and it is Yah, Elohim, The Creator, speaking to Yisra’el when He says: (reading from right to left, word for word)
“And I will pour upon Beit David, and upon the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, the Ru’akh of grace and of supplication; and they shall look upon ME [ יהוה ] whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him [ יֵשׁוּעַ ], as one mourns for his Yakhid [only son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first-born.”
Perhaps these clues are why Tzefan-Yah prophesied the following?
“For then will I restore for the people a PURE language, that they may all call upon the Name of יהוה, to serve HIM in ONE ACCORD.”
I have often said, ‘The Word is the Torah is the Commandments is the Ruakh [spirit] is Yeshua,’ in many variations.
But, in 20 years of studying the scriptures in Hebrew, I have never seen this so ‘clearly’ as I did when reading in Hebrew, seeing the word מַצֹּֽות but reading it in my head as מִצְוֹת ….. it was a double take.
Even one who does not read Hebrew can see how ‘dangerously similar’ these two DIFFERENT words are!
The first one is Matzot, and the second one is Mitzvot.
The first one means ‘Unleavened Bread,’ the kind of bread Yeshua broke at the Pesakh [Passover] Seder, saying, ‘This is MY BODY.’
The second one means “Commandments,” and is always in reference to the statutes, laws, and decrees in the Torah.
They are spelled EXACTLY THE SAME WAY in Hebrew!
You can see only subtle differences in what I’ve pasted herein, and those differences are the vowel pointers, that do not exist in a Torah scroll, so CONTEXT is the ONLY thing that ‘distinguishes’ the Matzot from the Mitzvot. In Hebrew, in the original texts of the scriptures, and in modern Hebrew, there are NO vowel pointers! Those are a later addition, used only to help a person who does not speak Hebrew learn to read. I have been practicing ignoring them, so that I can become more fluent in reading, so I can read the modern Israeli newspapers without help. In doing so, I momentarily read ‘matzot’ as ‘mitzvot,’ and immediately realized my error, due to context. Then, I had to do a double take!
The spiritual overtones to this are ENORMOUS. The symbolism in the letters may read, “the peoples will bow down [worship, become righteous] to a man who is a ‘sign’.” That is a mystery for both MATZAH and MITZVOT.
The Torah itself is a SIGN. The commandments themselves: the Shema finishes by saying, “You shall bind them ‘mitzvot’ as a SIGN upon your hand….” The Sabbath is a sign for ALL GENERATIONS to those that believe in Him. [Shemot [exodus] 31:13, 17]
The Matzah is our ‘symbol’ of Yeshua’s only sign to Yisra’el: His RESURRECTION. The Matzah is eaten during the Pesakh, and in Yeshua’s ‘savlanut’ week, he rose from the dead on the fifth day of Pesakh, on ‘saturday night,’ at the end of the SEVENTH regular day, the weekly Shabbat, at the beginning of the 1st biblical day. The Matzah alludes also to the Mannah, which Yeshua also called Himself: Mannah, the bread that came down from Heaven. The Mannah was a SIGN to set the Sabbath day of worship for Yisra’el [Shemot [exodus] 16] , and they saw this sign for 40 years. That is how we know that fri eve to sat eve is HIS SABBATH.
Yeshua is the Matzah, the Mannah, and the Mitzvah. Our unleavened bread is HIS PERFECTION IN THE TORAH, the COMMANDMENTS perfectly observed. Throw away the commandments, and you throw away Yeshua, the Bread of Life.
Had a different idea of what I would post for my Friday post. I always pray, asking Abba to give me an opportunity to glorify Him.
Friday was Charles Krauthammer’s day to contribute his weekly articles, may his memory be a blessing. I really liked that Jewish brother, and felt ‘kin’ to him in other ways.
Before I started writing what I had in mind during breaks, I got a message from a non-Messianic [as yet, 😉 ] believing friend, asking me to help clarify Galatians 4:10, out from under traditional, Christian interpretations. Et voila.
First, CONTEXT, CONTEXT, CONTEXT.
“But then, when you DID NOT KNOW ELOHIM, you served those things which from their nature were not gods. But now, after you have known Elohim, and, above all, are known of Elohim, you TURN AGAIN to those weak and poor principles, and you wish again to come under their bondage. You still observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid that perhaps I have labored among you in vain.” 4:8-11
Let’s remember who the ‘Galatim’ are: former gentile PAGANS.
What could they possibly ‘return to’ that they were doing when they did NOT KNOW GOD?
OTHER ‘days, months, times, and years.’
People FORGET that pagans have THEIR days too! And, believers have LONG since returned to those days AGAIN : mithras/Christmas Ishtar/easter, Halloween, etc….
The main error in Galatia was not ‘days, weeks, months, and years,’ but something else.
The error in Galatia was manifold. They were STILL doing PAGAN things [as they were in Colosse], and yet ‘trying’ to live a life of righteousness, claiming faith in Messiah. And so, when the FALSE brothers came into their synagogues [they were Gentiles worshipping in the synagogues. Sha’ul had ministered there in Acts 13-14, and then in 15 James and Peter dealt with the issue Paul then addresses in this book; the timing of when he wrote this, before or after Acts 15, is not firmly known, but most believe it was after], they began to follow FALSE teaching that their salvation was not secure unless they were circumcised. Also, what most do not know, is that the ‘circumcision faction’ in Judaism started BEFORE Messiah Yeshua, with a rival Rabbi to Hillel I, a Rabbi named “Shammai.” These Jews who were telling Gentiles they must be circumcised TO BE SAVED were of the house of Shammai. They believed they [gentiles] must become Jewish, according to THEIR standard. That is HIS [Shammai’s] teaching, and the house of Hillel called THEM the “Synagogue of Satan.” The REST of the Pharisees, who followed Hillel, knew that being a “TRUE JEW” was circumcision of the heart. These [House of Hillel Jews] are the ‘many thousands’ of Jews who DID come to Messiah [Acts 21:20] including Sha’ul, who was taught by Gamli’el, Hillel’s grandson. The house of Shammai called themselves ‘Yhudim’, the ‘true Jews’, and their mandate was ‘perfection’. Many times in the gospels, we see “The Jews”, in Hebrew, ‘Y’hudim’, and it is ONLY talking about the House of Shammai, which was the RULING HOUSE in the Sanhedrin, and in the Temple. And they did NOT want Gentiles in the Synagogues. The Messianic GENTILES of Galatia were falling prey to this error of the FLESH, which puts trust in ‘becoming Jewish’ in order to be saved. The Shammai conversion process [which is what today’s Jews still do] was to study Torah AS THEY TAUGHT IT [modifying, adding to, taking away], obey their laws perfectly, and for gentiles, show yourself committed to THEM, as a “Jew”, with the final sign of circumcision.
When Ya’akov [James, Yeshua’s brother] settled the issue BY THE POWER OF THE RU’AKH, He said,
“Men and brethren, hear me: Shimon Kefa has told you how Elohim, from the beginning, chose a people from the Goyim for His Name. And with this the words of the Nevi’im agree, as it is written, ‘After this I will return, and I will set up again the Sukka of David which has fallen down; and I will repair what has fallen from it, and I will set it up, so that the men who remain may seek after יהוה , and also all the Goyim upon whom My Name is called; so said יהוה , who does all these things.’ The works of Elohim are known from the very beginning. Because of this, I say do not trouble those who turn to Elohim from among the Goyim. But let us send word to them that they abstain from defilement by sacrifices to idols, and from fornication, and from creatures strangled, and from blood. For Moshe, since early generations, has those who declare him in the Beit K’nessets in every city who read him on every Yom Shabbat.”
It is VERY important to note the historical and BIBLICAL context here.
Most people REFUSE to do that, to cling to perverted doctrine.
Again, this was AFTER Sha’ul preached in Galatia in chapters 13-14. He went into the SYNAGOGUES and ministered to JEWS AND GENTILES. The Gentiles who began to believe in Messiah ALREADY believed in יהוה , and were called ‘righteous gentiles.’ THEY WERE SABBATH KEEPERS!
He lays on THOSE Gentiles, who were STILL worshipping in the synagogues, SEVERAL CHAPTERS of the TORAH [MOSHE]. Telling them THEY MUST KEEP THOSE CHAPTERS as a minimum, to REMAIN in the syngogues! [Lev 17 blood, Gen 9, Lev 18-20 in regard to sexual sin, etc] THIS was ALSO the ruling of HILLEL from about 100 years before! It was an ongoing ‘fight’ in ALL of Judaism! These were NOT “Messianic Jews” bringing in this BAD doctrine! Sha’ul tells us they were ‘posers’, FALSE BRETHREN! [calling themselves ‘true Jews,’ yet putting trust in their flesh. See Rom 2:29 and Deu 10, circumcision of the heart is obeying HIS TORAH]. He described this same group, calling them “Y’hudim” [remember, Shammai; Sha’ul was a Jew too, why would he ‘separate’ himself from them?] that tried to pressure him to circumcise Titus, EVEN AFTER HE CIRCUMCISED TIMOTHY, a Jew. [Gal 2] These were “Y’hudim”, the house of Shammai, the synagogue of Satan. Keep in mind, also, that he circumcised TIMOTHY AFTER the Acts 15 episode! RIGHT after, in 16, I think.
Ya’akov concluded his speech with some very important words:
“Moshe, [TORAH!] since early generations, has those who declare him in the Beit K’nessets in every city who READ him on every Yom Shabbat.”
People refuse to admit that these Gentiles were still going to SYNAGOGUE on SHABBAT and would continue to HEAR THE TORAH!
Ya’akov had a letter written and sent to the Gentiles in Galatia.
“We have heard that certain men have gone out and disturbed you with words, thus upsetting your souls, saying you must be circumcised and keep the whole Torah [TO BE SAVED; SEE 15:1-2]; concerning these things we have never commanded them. Therefore, we have considered the matter while we are assembled, and we have chosen and sent men to you with our beloved Pavlos and Bar-Naba, men who have dedicated their lives for the name of Adoneinu Yeshua HaMashi’akh. And we have sent with them Yehudah and Shilah, so that they may tell you the same things by word of mouth. For it is the will of The Ru’akh HaKodesh and of us to lay upon you no additional burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from sacrifices offered to idols, [TORAH] and from blood [TORAH], and from creatures strangled [TORAH], and from fornication [TORAH]; when you keep yourselves from these things, you will do well. Stand steadfast in Adoneinu.”
The Jewish believers were trusting the RUAKH to GUIDE THE GENTILES INTO TRUTH [“YOUR TORAH IS TRUTH”, Psalm 119, Yeshua in Yokhanan 17].
So, in 4:8, Sha’ul seems to show that they were returning to their pagan practices, after, perhaps, having become circumcised FOR SALVATION, putting a false hope in THEIR FLESH. Or, perhaps Sha’ul was alluding to the practices of Shammai in calling them “weak and poor principles”…. I ask, are the principles set down by Ya’akov and the other Messianic Jews in Acts 15, which are quoted from TORAH, ‘weak and poor’ principles? Is reading the Torah on Shabbat a ‘weak and poor principle’ of this world? NO! Yet that is how even Christian ‘scholars’ and ‘theologians’ read it. Hogwash.
Sha’ul was, in NO WAY, telling the Galatians to turn from Shabbat, but FROM THE TEACHINGS OF FALSE BROTHERS who put their hope in THEIR FLESH and in DOCTRINES OF MEN.
His Torah-keeping was IN TACT WAY after this, [Acts 21:24] , since he defended His Torah walk before KINGS AND JUDGES.
“And when he was come, the Y’hudim who had come from Yerushalayim surrounded him and brought against him many serious charges which they could not prove. Then Pavlos answered, “I have committed no offense against the Torah of the Y’hudim, or against the Heikhal [Temple Sanctuary], or against Caesar.” [Acts 25]
“Men and my brethren, though I have done nothing against the people and the Torah of my fathers…” [Acts 28]
Either he perjured himself two times in court, and lied, OR, it was a LIE that he was a Torah breaker and taught others to do so.
It WAS and it STILL IS a LIE that Sha’ul, or that ANYONE of scripture, taught the Gentiles to turn from Torah.
“Our brother, see how many thousands there are in Y’huda who are believers, and they are all zealous for the Torah: but they have been informed about you that you teach all the Y’hudim who are among the Goyim to forsake the Torah of Moshe, stating that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to follow after the customs of the Torah. Now, therefore, they have heard that you have come here. Do, therefore, what we tell you. We have four men who have vowed to purify themselves [Numbers 6]; Take them and go purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; then everyone will know that what has been said against you IS A LIE, and that you [Paul] yourself UPHOLD THE TORAH AND OBEY IT.” [Acts 21:20-24]
Why is it SO many otherwise intelligent people STILL believe that LIE? This was AFTER Sha’ul became a believer in Yeshua. LONG after!
Sha’ul was/is indeed GREAT in the Kingdom.
This is how YESHUA describes that:
”Whoever therefore tries to loosen even one of these smallest mitzvot, [Torah ‘commandments’, see vs. 17-18] and teaches men so, he shall be regarded as small in Malkhut HaShamayim [The Kingdom of Heaven]; but anyone who observes and teaches them [Torah commandments], he shall be regarded as great in Malkhut HaShamayim.” Matti 5:19
What ‘scriptures’ do you think Sha’ul taught in Galatia, and in Efesim for TWO YEARS, daily, and elsewhere? The Qoran?
As I prayed the prayers this morning, when I got to Aaron’s blessing, I was again ‘awe struck’ by His Name: יהוה
It is spoken three times in that blessing. And again, the next prayer, the Shemah, this Name is again spoken three times.
The Shemah is the greatest of all the 613 commandments. Yeshua teaches this in Mark 12:28:
“One of the Torah-teachers came up and heard them engaged in this discussion. Seeing that Yeshua answered them well, he asked Him, “Which is the greatest mitzvah of them all?” Yeshua answered, “The greatest mitzvah is, `Sh’ma Yisra’el, יהוה Eloheinu, יהוה ekhad [Hear, O Israel, יהוה is our God, יהוה is one], and you are to love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.’”
As I read it this morning, I confessed to myself and to Abba that I know I do not love Him that powerfully; and immediately, this verse went through my mind as I almost began to castigate myself: “The Messiah is the GOAL at which the Torah aims, who offers tzedaka to all who trust.” Romans 10:4
“10:4 good buddy!”
Knowing this is my goal, and not what I have achieved, but what I am to strive for, is very comforting.
So, I started walking through the Shemah slowly, chewing on this most important commandment.
שְׁמַע, יִשְׂרָאֵל: יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ, יהוה אֶחָד.
Hear! O Yisra’el, יהוה is our Elohim, יהוה is ONE.
Oh, the truth that bubbles out of that one statement!
Yisra’el: A PRINCE with God. Strives WITH God, to be formed into His image.
Shemah, ‘hear’, is weakly translated into English. Shemah not only means ‘hear’, but it means ‘hear and respond’, in the sense of a soldier who takes in a command, processes it, and DOES it.
יהוה is OUR GOD
The Name יהוה separates Elohim from every other being who is worshipped, every other “god”. There are many “gods”, or spiritual entities who crave the worship of humans. They are the ‘fallen ones’. HaSatan, known as “Heillel Ben Shakhar”, [Isaiah 14:12] is the chief of those ‘sons of Elohim’ who rebelled against the Almighty some time before the creation of our heaven and earth. “Heillel” means ‘Shining One’; Why? For many reasons. He was a Keruv that ‘covered’, meaning he had been one of the two “close ones” that hovered over the Father in the Throne Room. [This is depicted in the Sanctuary, the two ‘keruvim’ hovering on the kaporet, the lid of the Ark of the Covenant.]
He was in Gan Eden, dressed in precious stones and gold, he was also ministering at the Altar of heaven; he WAS ‘bright and shining’, a glorious creature. [Ez 28:12-14] Yet he fell, and was cast out of his ‘close place’; because he loved pride more than he loved the Father. [Isa 14:12] He loved himself more than he loved the Father, who was far more glorious than he. He could not see that the Father MADE HIM that glorious, and gave him all that splendor.
When he fell, he took other ‘sons of Elohim’ with him. [many times in your English bibles, when you read ‘angels’, the Hebrew is ‘sons of Elohim’. Sometimes angels is translated from Malakhim, which means ‘messengers/emissaries,’ but many times it is ‘sons of Elohim’] 1/3 of the other “Armies” of Elohim went with him.
All of these ‘sons of Elohim’ who ‘fell’ from their glory are spiritual entities who, at the very beginning of creation, came to earth to confuse and deceive men, twist the Word of Elohim, and rob from God His due worship from mankind. They do that in many, many ways. This is a war that is raging, and most are oblivious to it, or do not know how to function in it. Many ‘talk’ about putting on the armor of Elohim, but precious few really do it.
Most people today do not believe in ‘spirits’; or, if they do, they ‘think’ that these spirits are harmless, or helpful to them [conjurers]. Most of the effect of what these supernatural entities do is relegated in the minds of the ‘educated’ into human mental disease and symptoms, and treated with drugs. Those who do know that there are ‘spirits’ out there that want to thwart the work of God in this world do not fully understand how they operate. They are clandestine, and very, very deceiving. Their primary mission is to TWIST THE WORD OF ELOHIM. If they can’t do that, they simply use a human agent and pose as ANOTHER god. To those who do not believe the Word of God, they do not have to twist the Word of God! They function for them in the form of other deities: Mithras [trinity] [and its pantheon], Ishtar [Easter] and her pantheon, Zeus, [yes, people do still worship him] Allah [and his pantheon… yes, they believe in the deity of other beings], Para Brahman, Buddha, Confucius, Woden [Wednesday] Thor [Thursday] Friatag [Friday, equivalent of roman Venus], Saturnus, and on and on and on….
I said all of that to say this. יהוה IS OUR ELOHIM. יהוה IS ONE.
We are to ‘hear and do’ this. What does that mean? TRUST and AGREE that ONLY יהוה
is “GOD.” And that HE is NOT three, two, or many. HE IS ONE.
Yeshua affirmed this! OVER and OVER!
And, Yeshua is a permanent emanation of the Father in a human body, NOT a “separate but equal” “person” of three equal gods who are one ‘substance’ who are three who are one. [this is actually an Egyptian and Babylonian deity that Constantine worshipped until just before he died; but, instead of the original names of the ‘three in one’ individuals, those names were replaced with father son and holy ghost, and the whole conglomerate again called “Trinity”]
Yeshua is the Word, He was IN His Father in the beginning, and proceeded forth and CAME OUT OF His Father [John 8:42], and He became a body, a human. He is not His Father, but He perfectly represents Him, and is UNITED with Him. He is the ‘express [perfect] IMAGE of His Father. The Ruakh is exactly that: RUAKH, Breath! Power! Life! Fire! NOT a ‘third person’. The Ruakh emanates from the Father. It is not a separate ‘mind’ who happens to agree with the Father. This DEFIES the GREATEST command! God is NOT THREE [in one]. He is ONE, and He sent a part of Himself into earth as Yeshua, who now gives us the Ruakh, from the Father. He is perfectly UNITED with the Son, BY the Ruakh, which HE GAVE to the Son. [Luke 3:22]
This is NOT a mystery! The ‘mystery’ of the good news is Messiah in US, sinful men! And since the Messiah is in us, the Father is also in us. [John 17]
We all presumably believe this, yet hopefully NONE OF US would presume to ‘be’ “God”, just because He is in us. Neither would Yeshua! His Father is IN HIM. He is the only man born not of flesh, but of the RUAKH. Yet, HE IS A MAN. STILL! He was SLAIN. Can God die? Really? Then He is not יהוה [the EXISTING ONE, who WAS, [ALWAYS] IS, and WILL BE.] Yet, Yeshua, the man, DIED. His Father was there to raise Him from the dead. And to exalt Him, stand Him at His Right Hand, and give Him all authority. And one day, everything He has been given, He will give BACK to the Father. He is subjugated to His Father, STILL. He is NOT “equal” to His father in every way, and He is not the same “substance” as His Father. He is FLESH AND BONE. Since we don’t know what ‘substance’ the Father is, we CANNOT presume to say He is flesh and bone, since flesh and bone did not exist together until the creation. But Yeshua TOLD US, AFTER the resurrection, that HE is FLESH AND BONE.
“Look at my hands and my feet — it is I, myself! Touch me and see — a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see THAT I DO.” Luke 24:39
That is what we are supposed to say “Amein” to! To give our TRUST to, to HEAR and DO. We are supposed to stay faithful to the MOST IMPORTANT COMMAND EVER!
And then, we are to LOVE יהוה our ONE ELOHIM with ALL OF OUR BEING:
Heart, Life, Effort. We do this by doing what HE said next: THESE WORDS WHICH I COMMAND YOU TODAY will BE in YOUR HEARTS.
What “words”? “D’varim”, the very name of the book of Deuteronomy, the summary of Torah or ‘second torah’ [the greek word Deuteronomy means ‘second law’]. This book starts with “THESE ARE THE WORDS”. “Eleh HaD’varim”
We are to put this WHOLE BOOK, [and thereby a full understanding of the whole Torah] IN OUR HEARTS. MEMORIZE IT!
We do THAT by:
IMPRESSING THEM upon our children
SPEAKING IN THEM [THESE WORDS, DEUTERONOMY] when:
sitting in the house, walking down the road, when we lie down, when we rise up.
We do that by: Binding them on our hands
Fastening them between our eyes as ‘frontlets.’
And, we write them on the doorposts of our houses, and on our gates.
Making the commands a part of EVERY PART of our lives!
This is the GREATEST command: Trust Yah is ONE, and that HE IS. LOVE HIM WITH ALL THAT WE ARE. HEAR AND DO HIS COMMANDS.
If we were to memorize the commands and impress them on our children using all these methods, the next generation would NOT FORGET!
But, what has happened? Man did not LOVE יהוה enough to preserve the use of His Name, to understand that He is ONE, to keep His Commands dear; and so many did not recognize HIS WORD when it came into the world in a body, perfectly obeying every command!
We did not love Him enough to continue to do what HE SAYS. We allow so much other ‘stuff’ to interfere with the greatest command. And since we do that, we are incapable of the other great command:
LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF
What’s funny is, you can’t do the first one, without doing the second one! And you can’t do the second one, without doing the first one!
Yokhanan teaches us this:
“If a man says, “I love Elohim”, but hates his brother, he is a LIAR. For he loves not his brother, whom he can SEE; how then can he love GOD, whom he cannot SEE.”
I Yokh 4:20
So, the perfect mark of the Torah is to LOVE יהוה with every part of our being, with every action. The proof that we do that is that we actually, really, truly LOVE our brothers.
The commandments are ‘bidirectional’; they teach us first to love God, and then they teach us HOW to love our neighbor, even when we offend and are offended. NOT studying the Torah is ROBBING believers of the ability to do this. NOT HEARING the first command CLEARLY, and DOING it, is causing us NOT to study Torah!
The solution to all the worlds woes is the SHEMAH! HEAR AND DO !!
When one wears ‘Tzitziyot’, the staring is obvious. We stick out.
We do NOT wear them to be seen. Nor to feel important. But, we wear them, simply because G-d said to, and Yeshua did so.
The staring can, at times, be a little unsettling, but, I always remember that the Navi [Prophet] said that in the last days, “…ten men shall take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, shall even take hold of the kanaf of him that is a Yehudi, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that Elohim is with you.'” Zekh 8:23 The kanaf is the corner ‘hem’/’wing’ on which the tzitzit hangs. This has happened at least twice in my time wearing the Tzitziyot daily. It truly does ‘set us apart’ from all people, and it truly does stand as a witness to Messiah Yeshua.
The woman who had the issue of blood, who crawled through the crowd to get to Yeshua, told herself that if she could just touch his KANAF, where the tzitzit hangs, she KNEW she would be healed. How? Perhaps she remembered and understood the prophecy:
“But unto you that fear My Name shall Shemesh Tzedaka [Sun of Righteousness] arise with healing in his kanaf; and you shall go forth, and gambol as calves from the stall. ….” Malakhi 3:20
Numbers 15 and Deut 22 both have the command that we make a ‘tzit-tzit,’ a ‘tassel’ and put one on each of the four corners of our garment. We are also commanded that one ‘petil,’ or ‘thread,’ in the tzit-tzit be “tekhelet,’ or that priestly color of blue [the color of the High Priest’s robe].
Since few in modernity have worn a four-cornered garment, the “Tallit” has become a special garment. This is the same as the “mantle” of Eliyahu and David, and all Jews of the Bible, under which they prayed. It used to be the outer garment of every Jew for daily wear, but they also covered themselves with it for sacred occasions [praying, reading Torah, etc]. Since we no longer wear that garment daily, that garment has become used only for prayer and worship, hence it is now called a ‘tallit,’ from the Hebrew word for prayer.
On the four corners of this garment is where we fasten the tzit-tziyot. [plural of tzit-tzit].
There are two primary Jewish ‘communities’ that emerged during the medieval period when the ‘tallit’ became necessary because of change in dress: Ashkenazi and Sephardi. Ashkenazi are the Jews who settled primarily in Germany but also in the Slavic nations, whereas Sephardi are those who settled in Spain. Different customs [only very SLIGHTLY different, which is amazing, given their distance from one another] developed in regard to some of the prayer service, and also in regard to tying tzit-tziyot. The Ashkenazi, from where all my Jewish predecessors came, tie theirs with five knots and four windings, and the winding sections have this series of winds: 7, 8, 11, 13. This number totals 39, the numeric value of the Hebrew phrase, “יהוה Ekhad,” or, יהוה is ONE. The Sephard community’s tradition is to tie five knots with four windings, 10,5,6,5, the numeric value of the name יהוה, total 26, each winding representing one letter of the four letter name יהוה. In each of these traditions, the five knots can represent the five books of Torah.
There are different traditions among Karaite Jews and Yemenite Jews as well, but they are much smaller communities.
As I stated, I and my wife are of Ashkenazi descent. But, we went without the name of יהוה for a big part of our lives, and when we started using the tallit, we decided that we wanted to honor His Name. But, we also wanted to honor our Ashkenazi ancestors, and the Sabbath, AND the Torah, which we also went without for so long.
So, you will see on my tallit and all my tzit-tziyot that we have six knots and five windings! Six knots for the days of the week, five windings for the Torah. The windings are wound in this numeric pattern:
7 = remembering our Ashkenazi ancestors AND honoring the Shabbat.
10 = first letter in יהוה
5 = second letter in יהוה
6 = third letter in יהוה
5 = last letter in יהוה [Hebrew goes right to left].
Add those up:
33, the number of years YESHUA LIVED. He died and rose in that year of His life, and became our High Priest, starting at 33 y.o.
That blue thread you see… it is called the SHAMMASH. The Servant Thread. It is a picture of the “Hight Priest,” as his robe is this color, ‘tekhelet,’ a special and particular blue. All the other SEVEN threads are wrapped in it, where ‘wrap’ is the same word as in the command ‘the garment in which you hide yourself.’
The Jewish community only just recently discovered the source of the tekhelet die, and so many Jews are only now just coming to wear the petil tekhelet [thread of blue] again, inching ever closer to Messiah, their REAL High Priest!
This is how and why we tie our Tzit-Tziyot the way we do [The ‘Perek’ house].
Doing so again recently, I cannot tell you what a thrill it is to obey this; not just the wearing part, but the actual fulfilling of the command גְּדִלִים, תַּעֲשֶׂה-לָּךְ, עַל-אַרְבַּע כַּנְפוֹת כְּסוּתְךָ, אֲשֶׁר תְּכַסֶּה-בָּהּ.. G’dilim Ta’aseh lakh al arba kanfot k’suteikha asher t’khasei ba. [Twisted cords you shall make for yourself on the four corners of the garment in which you hide yourself [for prayer].] It is an intimate connection with Yeshua, unlike anything one can do in this world.
Now you know!
Growing up, in some ways, my family was a good representation of the Kingdom of Elohim [G-d]. And this carried way into adulthood as well.
My parents were married very young; they barely knew each other when they married, but their marriage lasted through tests and troubles, for almost fifty years, until they died.
My parents truly, faithfully, and genuinely loved each other.
Dad was a difficult man to live with, and at times, very unpleasant, with episodes of violence that would border on abuse today, some would say. But, in spite of his ill temper, he was a good man. He was a determined and successful provider, having changed careers a few times in order to remain faithful to it. He was an ‘overlord’ concerning homework/grades, chores, and brushing teeth. He was so bent on that last task, that I am famous among peers, including a dentist friend, for not having visited a dentist but one time very early on in my childhood, yet having perfect teeth as an adult. He boasted that his children’s teeth only went bad after they left his house.
He showed mercy to all his children as adults, “recycling” them when their lives gave them a difficult blow and sent them back to his nest. Over and over he bailed out my older siblings through their difficulties, and through some acts of sheer stupidity, to be honest.
He was jocular, intelligent, and sentimental, and could hold a conversation about most any subject. He had a stern brow that put fear in us, and for his lack of stature, a booming voice to go with it, along with over-sized hands. We’d seen him fight bigger men, and scare them as much or more than he scared us. He was fierce. I’ll never forget bringing four of my high school friends to the house, and their sighs of relief once we left, having been there for only moments. He had a knack for “putting the fear in you.” In his latter years, his humor refined, and became more obvious to us, though his peers were probably keenly aware of it before us. No one has ever made me laugh as hard and long as my Dad in the most memorable phone call I’ve ever had. I wish I had a recording of it, remembering only a few ‘punch-lines’ from the string of gut-wrenching quips of hilarity that spewed out of his mouth that day.
Mom, on the other hand, was his balance. As good-looking as Dad was, Mom was more beautiful. They were a ‘Hollywood’ couple, to be sure. But Mom’s outward beauty was eclipsed by here soft, strong heart. She was a quintessential nurturer. She, by nature, tended to the needs of others, sometimes to her own hurt. She chose a career, after having been only mother and homemaker, in nurturing others, winning multiple awards in Texas as a geriatric activities director. She loved life. She loved to sing. She just gave love away wherever she went, especially to those in whom she detected a need for it. And she had a sense about her to do that. She loved our father with a ferocity, in spite of his being the only one who could really rub her rhubarb the wrong way.
In these two humans, I intuitively learned of The Father, and of His Ru’akh [Spirit], as they each modeled those roles in our lives, in spite of their imperfections, and not with any conscious effort to do so. Daddy was the provider, guardian, instructor/lawgiver, and disciplinarian, and Momma was our comforter, caretaker, nurse, and teacher. These are the cooperative qualities of proper parents that show us the unity of Elohim.
But, our family went even further to show me the precepts of the Kingdom of Elohim…in some very difficult ways.
Before I go into that, I want to point out some details of the Kingdom.
The Kingdom of Elohim [G-d], of HaShamayim [Heaven], of Mashiakh [Messiah], is exactly that. A KINGDOM. What kingdom does NOT have a body of law governing it? Yet there are many believers who say there is no ‘law’ in the Kingdom of G-d. And if intuitively, or perhaps by the Spirit, they know there is a law, not perceiving what that law is or being taught wrong, they contrive one that is indefinable, or they say there are only two statutes in it: love G-d and love others. While that last statement standing alone is indeed true, it does not make sense that those are the only two statutes we must do, given that, without the Torah, we would not know HOW to love G-d and others. Those two statements, instead, are the SUMMARY of the Torah. It is the Torah that shows us HOW to do those two, by other statutes that make it very plain what the expression of those two love directions are. But, for those who defiantly insist there is NO law in His Kingdom, they say that the law was abolished, and that now there is only ‘grace.’ They do not understand how the kingdom operates, so, they will be perpetual subjects in the Kingdom, and not rulers in it. Granted, to be subjects in the Kingdom of G-d is a much better option than the alternative. But, those who are meant to rule with Messiah, the King, will understand that He rules His kingdom RIGHT NOW, according to the ‘law’ of His Father: The Torah.
Further, other than being a subject or a ruler in His Kingdom, all of whom are recipients of the ‘inheritance’ of the Father, there are those who will NOT inherit ANY measure of His Kingdom. These are the disinherited, the cast-out, the ‘cut off’, those who suffer apart from His eternal kingdom, perpetually. There are preconceptions based on mixture doctrine, but the idea is there, that G-d will not spare some from eternal suffering. What most people don’t realize, however, who do believe in some form of ‘hell,’ is that the reason for going there is for having been a renegade, a rebel in opposition to his Torah, a malefactor in the KINGDOM of Elohim: one who BREAKS HIS TORAH, one who does not abide by the King’s law.
Before the reader goes off half-cocked, let me assure that the writer in no way thinks that non-Messianic believers are all going to ‘hell’ because they do not keep His Torah. In fact, this writer believes that all TRUE believers DO endeavor to keep His Torah, but that most, having been taught wrong, simply do not strive to learn His whole Torah, such that they can be CERTAIN they are keeping it to the best of their ability. “Examine yourselves….” “Look into the perfect ‘law’ of liberty” [Torah, see Psalm 119]. And, most do not realize they ARE, in part, Torah keepers. Many, in fact, only have the way distorted for them on how to love Elohim more fully, since loving Him is expressed in trusting in and declaring His Name, and assembling with His people at the times HE appointed. Loving people is also plainly taught in the Torah, so there is no question as to how to love our neighbor, for those who study Torah. But, in many circles, that too is esoteric, and a guessing game for many. Not only, then, do people not know how to keep Torah more fully, but they also do not consult their Attorney and lawgiver concerning how he would counsel them to keep it. They simply believe any so-called ‘lawyer’ who would hang a shingle outside that they are keeping it, without looking into the books of His law themselves.
My point here, however, is that the law of inheritance is very, very clear. And this is what I painfully learned by watching my own family, concerning inheritance.
Since a King has a kingdom, and every sound kingdom is governed by a law, then there are also consequences to not keeping that law. Yeshua, our Messiah, gives many “mishlim”, or prophetic ‘stories’ known as parables, that explain His Kingdom, and the severity against those who reject Him as King, and even against those who accept Him, yet do not follow His Way. At the same time, He demonstrates and explains the great compassion of His Father toward those who obey HIS LAW.
In my family, the same can be seen concerning the laws of inheritance.
My father was not a wealthy man, by any stretch of the imagination. He had four children with my mother, but before having done that, he adopted his half-brother at four years old. We knew him to be our brother, and never looked at him any differently, even after learning of his having been adopted. My parents were both in ill health in their early and mid-sixties. Dad had multiple lung diseases, and mom had als leukemia. Before they took ill, however, they made sure their ‘last will and testament’ was clearly expressed and legally binding. Interesting choice of words, ‘testament’, for our discussion of inheritance, is it not? Further, they began to give things of sentimental value to each child whom they had agreed would inherit them, long before they died, so as to alleviate any infighting over it after their passing. As far as they were concerned, things were ‘set in stone.’
Unfortunately, toward the end, two of our siblings went into severe rebellion. I’m not talking of teenage games, but absolute, utter, hateful treatment and disregard of my parents. I will not bore anyone with those private details, but let me just say that the adopted son and another son hurt my parents over and over, repeatedly, in spite of the fact that they helped each of them the most, to recover from their own stupidity, their own criminal behaviors, substance issues, etc. etc. These two went on not only to steal from and lie to and about my parents, but to hurl the most hateful accusations against them, and blame them for all their issues. After dealing with years and years of repeated and increasing, double heartbreak from these two, they were each ‘written out of the will’ of my parents. They were ‘cut off’, they were ‘disinherited.’ These same terms for speaking of children who are NOT going to get a thing out of a ‘last will and testament’ are interestingly similar to the terms the scriptures use to describe those who are ‘going to hell,’ the way most people describe it.
I was, whether good or bad, named the ‘executor’ over both their wills. Since they died so close together, barely seven weeks apart, I had to probate my Dad’s will, who died first, assigning everything to my mother, and then probate the whole estate for all my siblings when she passed. Neither of those brothers were anywhere to be seen when my parents passed. We had not heard from the adopted brother for some 15 years. The other, we had not heard from for about two years when Mom passed.
What makes it interesting, since my parents were not wealthy, was that my father had been involved in a Mesothelioma case. It turned into a wrongful death case in our names when he died.
The one brother heard about that somehow, and at the time, was dating a woman who thought that because she went to a semester of law school, she could adjudicate and sue me! They got dollar signs in their eyes, moved to back to Texas, hired a private investigator to snoop into my life, and tried to sue me, in spite of the fact that both of these brothers were getting the EXACT same thing from the settlements as I was. And I was the one having to manage it, find them, hold their monies, and then send their monies to the lawyers when they were found. Almost five years later, the second one, the adopted brother, also tried to sue me.
Legally, they had no leg to stand on, and thankfully, I had done all my fiduciary duties toward all my siblings, according to both the will and the law. There was nothing they could do. They were cut out.
It is the SAME in the Kingdom of Messiah. There will be both adopted sons and natural sons that, because of their disdain for the will of the Father, they will be CUT OFF, cut OUT of His Kingdom, forever. They are unrepentant, and have no respect for the wishes of their Father.
The one brother who was adopted shows the sinfulness of pride. He’d told my parents they were not his parents, refused to call them Mom and Dad anymore, and cut himself off from them by way of communication. Then, YEARS after they’re dead and gone, when he hears through the grapevine there was a settlement, his lust and greed for money overturns those statements. He practically salivated over the money when he called me with his blandishments, wanting to seem like a loving brother, but only for a moment. It was years later when he tried to sue me. All his ingratiating flattery disappeared.
This reminds me of the five virgins who beg to get into the wedding after the fact. They are ‘virgins’, meaning they thought they’d be at the wedding. But the Groom says to them, “I do not know you.” Other times Yeshua says the children of the KINGDOM will be put into ‘outer darkness,’ where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Yeshua, teaching on the subject of Salvation, says that the judge [Himself] will say to so many:
“I do not know you or where you come from; depart from me, O you workers of iniquity. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Avraham and Yitz’khak and Ya’akov and all the Nevi’im [Prophets] in Malkhut HaElohim [Kingdom of G-d], but you will be thrown outside.”
The psalms and proverbs define “worker of iniquity” as those who break the Torah. Those who flout the law of G-d. Even IF they are ‘children of the kingdom,’ but they do this, they will not inherit a thing from G-d, but to be cut out of His will.
My parents were completely justified in doing what they did to my two brothers. It held up under two different human judges. Elohim is justified in cutting of those who will not hear Him.
“For if any man sins willfully [breaks Torah, 1 Jo 3:4] after he has received the knowledge of the truth, then there is no more sacrifice to be offered for sins, but only impending fearful judgment, and the fiery indignation which shall consume the adversaries. He who transgressed the Torah of Moshe, on the word of two or three witnesses he died without mercy: how much more punishment do you think he will receive who has trodden underfoot Ben HaElohim, and has considered the blood of His Brit, through which he had been set apart, as ordinary blood, and has blasphemed HaRu’akh HaKhesed? For we know Him who said, “‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay,’ says יהוה .” And again, ” יהוה shall judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living Elohim.
